Responsibilities

Position Overview

Peraton is seeking a highly experienced Senior IT Operations Manager to lead enterprise infrastructure and operational support activities for a federal government customer within the Intelligence Community (IC). This position serves as the primary operational interface between the prime contractor, federal leadership, and technical teams supporting mission-critical environments.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing complex enterprise IT operations, leading multidisciplinary technical teams, overseeing secure infrastructure environments, and driving operational excellence across highly secure federal programs. This role requires a strategic leader with strong technical depth, operational rigor, and proven experience delivering large-scale IT services within classified and regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for program leadership and federal executive leadership regarding all IT infrastructure and operational activities supporting classified and unclassified environments.
  • Lead planning, execution, and operational delivery across TS/SCI, Secret, and Unclassified systems, infrastructure, and enterprise services.
  • Direct and manage multidisciplinary technical teams including:
    • Server and network managers and engineers
    • Infrastructure architects
    • VTC engineers
    • Application developers
    • Linux and systems administrators
    • Virtualization specialists
    • Project managers
    • Help desk and end-user support personnel
  • Oversee daily operations and lifecycle management of enterprise data centers, servers, networks, firewalls, storage platforms, load balancers, cloud infrastructure, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and desktop computing environments.
  • Develop and execute the organization's IT operations vision, roadmap, modernization strategy, and operational improvement initiatives aligned with mission objectives.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), operational metrics, and organizational goals to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Drive operational excellence with a demonstrated focus on delivering on-time, on-budget, and zero-defect solutions within high-security federal environments.
  • Manage financial capital and operational budgets supporting infrastructure operations, modernization initiatives, staffing, procurement, and sustainment activities.
  • Oversee resource planning, workforce management, and staffing strategies to ensure operational continuity and successful project execution.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and communication regarding operational status, schedules, milestones, risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.
  • Lead infrastructure modernization and transformation initiatives involving cloud adoption, virtualization, cybersecurity enhancements, automation, and enterprise service optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with federal security policies, configuration management processes, cybersecurity requirements, and operational governance standards.
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, cybersecurity teams, PMOs, engineering teams, and mission partners to support integrated enterprise operations.
  • Lead incident response coordination, operational escalation management, continuity planning, and disaster recovery activities.
  • Promote operational maturity, process improvement, documentation standardization, and service delivery optimization across the enterprise environment.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management, or related field (or equivalent professional experience) preferred
  • 12+ years of experience managing enterprise IT operations, infrastructure services, or mission-critical technology programs.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing large technical teams and enterprise operational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting classified federal government or Intelligence Community environments.
  • Strong technical expertise across enterprise infrastructure technologies including:
    • Data center operations
    • Enterprise networking
    • Firewalls and cybersecurity infrastructure
    • Storage and backup platforms
    • Virtualization technologies
    • Cloud infrastructure
    • Hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI)
    • VDI and desktop computing
    • Linux and Windows server environments
  • Proven experience managing large-scale operational support contracts and coordinating with executive government stakeholders.
  • Experience managing operational and capital budgets, project financials, staffing plans, and resource allocations.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL processes, operational governance, change management, incident management, and service delivery frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in high-tempo, mission-critical operational environments.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven track record delivering complex IT solutions on schedule, within budget, and with high operational reliability.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph eligibility preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP, ITIL, CISSP, VMware, AWS, Azure, or related industry certifications.
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community agencies or Department of Energy (DOE).
  • Experience leading cloud migration and enterprise modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture, DevSecOps, automation frameworks, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud and multi-classification environments.
  • Experience with enterprise collaboration platforms, VTC systems, and secure communications technologies.

Target Salary Range$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
