Job description

Overview

As a Virtual Sitter, your role will be centered around ensuring resident safety. You will play a vital role in ensuring resident safety by providing continuous remote monitoring for residents at risk of falls, elopement, or self-harm. Your vigilance and proactive communication will help prevent adverse events and enhance the overall resident experience.


Responsibilities

  • Complete continuous visualization of the resident via remote monitoring equipment. Continuous visual observation of resident(s) always using room safety camera to identify potential harm to self or others.This includes dislodging of drains, tubes, IV’s, getting up unassisted, etc.
  • Communicate with facility nurses to determine when cameras should be adjusted for privacy during daily care, physician visits, etc.
  • Obtain a verbal report from the resident’s nurse, including ambulation limitations and course of action for redirection, care needs, diagnosis, and any special considerations (NPO status, bed alarms, mobility restrictions, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the manager for concerns not requiring immediate physical intervention.
  • Observe the resident’s activity and behavior and redirect the resident as needed. If indicated, immediately notifies floor nurses of the need for physical intervention (such as toileting assistance assisting resident to lie back in bed, moving an item closer, etc.)
  • Identify safety risks and communicate the need to escalate assistance to the residents.
  • Function cooperatively as a team member, responding directive by responsible nurse to changing resident’s/unit’s needs.
  • Communicate in a professional manner and demonstrate respect for the residents, families/significant other and other health care members.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA) or Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Experience of working in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Power Point and Outlook, Internet and Intranet navigation.
