Travel: Regular travel throughout Ohio and Kentucky

About the Opportunity

McCormick Equipment Company is seeking an experienced Vice President of Operations to lead the operational performance and continued growth of our multi-location service and installation organization.

This executive leadership position has responsibility for operations across seven branch locations, overseeing a $40M+ revenue operation, $30M+ in annual operating expenses, 75+ fleet vehicles, and a large field service and installation workforce.

The Vice President of Operations will lead a team of 11 operational leaders and have direct accountability for profitability, operational performance, employee development, customer satisfaction, safety, and continuous improvement. As a key member of the executive leadership team, this position will work closely with the President, CEO, CFO, and other senior leaders to execute the company's strategic objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for service, installation, planned maintenance, fleet, safety, and training operations across seven branch locations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop 11 direct reports, including District Operations Managers and other operational leaders.
  • Establish performance metrics, operational goals, and accountability measures that drive profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide operational insights and recommendations to executive leadership and ownership.

Financial & P&L Management

  • Maintain full accountability for Operations P&L performance, including more than $40M in annual revenue and $30M in operating expenses.
  • Lead annual budgeting and monitor financial performance throughout the year.
  • Review actual results against budget and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor installation project margins and partner with branch leadership to improve profitability.
  • Oversee operational expenditures, vendor costs, subcontractor expenses, and other financial commitments.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Develop and track annual performance metrics for operational leaders and teams.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and leadership development.
  • Participate in recruiting, hiring, retention, compensation, and succession-planning initiatives.
  • Oversee technician incentive programs and operational compensation recommendations.
  • Partner with Human Resources on employee relations and performance-management matters.

Customer & Operational Support

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Meet with customers regarding company capabilities, project performance, and service needs.
  • Review and execute operational contracts and agreements.
  • Develop subcontractor relationships that support operational capacity and company growth.
  • Oversee a fleet of 75+ company vehicles, including issue management, replacement planning, and vendor coordination.
  • Partner with Safety and Training leadership to maintain strong safety standards and support employee development.


What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience, including significant multi-site responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success managing P&L performance, budgeting, forecasting, and operational KPIs.
  • Leadership experience within industrial equipment, field service, HVAC, automotive, construction, distribution, installation, or a similar operational environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop managers and large field-based teams.
  • Experience driving operational improvement, organizational change, and increased profitability.
  • Strong financial acumen, executive communication skills, and business judgment.
  • Ability to travel regularly to company locations throughout Ohio and Kentucky.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based at our corporate headquarters in Loveland, Ohio, with regular travel to branch locations throughout Ohio and Kentucky, as well as periodic customer site visits. Occasional overnight travel is required.
