Familiarity with telemedicine platforms, practice management software, and electronic medical records is essential for effective remote care. What is a virtual veterinary technician?

A Virtual Veterinary Technician is a trained veterinary professional who provides remote support to veterinarians, pet owners, and animal care teams. They assist with tasks such as teletriage, client education, medical record management, and coordinating care. While they do not perform hands-on procedures, they play a vital role in guiding pet owners on basic care and when to seek in-person veterinary attention. This role is ideal for vet techs who want flexibility while still applying their expertise.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a virtual veterinary technician?

As a Virtual Veterinary Technician, your day-to-day duties often include assisting veterinarians with remote patient intake, reviewing medical histories, triaging non-emergency issues, and guiding pet owners on basic animal care. This role requires strong digital communication skills and the ability to handle multiple cases efficiently, often in collaboration with both veterinary professionals and client services teams. Working virtually allows you to support pet health care from anywhere while being an integral part of a modern veterinary practice.
