American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Decatur, Illinois.

Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and an active IL RN license.

Details
  • Combined adult and pediatric Emergency Department in a 280-bed acute care hospital
  • Level II Trauma Center and STEMI-certified facility
  • 32-bed ED with an average daily census of 120 patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:4 for all shifts
  • Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Weekends required as needed
  • Floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities is required for all travelers
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Charting system: Cerner (experience preferred)
  • Royal blue scrubs required
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
  • Preferred certifications: ENPC and NRP
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • Level II Trauma Center experience required (Level I also accepted)
  • Experience in a combined adult/pediatric ED required
  • Cardiac monitoring skills: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and multisystem organ dysfunction management
  • IV/phlebotomy skills: blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
  • Medication skills: continuous IV paralytics, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
  • Neurological case experience: CVA, neuro-trauma, ICP monitoring, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • Respiratory skills: chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and ventilator management
  • Shock/trauma experience: gunshot wounds and traumatic amputation
  • Pediatric case experience: abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, abuse identification, infections, mental/behavioral health, near drowning, poison ingestion, respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, skin disorders, spinal cord injury, and UTIs
  • Psychiatric case experience: acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, psychiatric holds, and suicidal patients
  • Proficiency in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Ortho-trauma experience required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
  • Candidates who were previously permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being considered as a traveler
  • Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
  • RTO is ideally no more than 5 non-holiday days per assignment
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
  • Day 1 orientation is virtual and conducted from home; all assigned modules must be completed by 4:00 PM CST on Day 1
