The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and clinically strong Regional Wound Care Nurse (RN) to support operations across multiple sites . This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) in wound care, providing hands-on clinical support, education, and program development across multiple sites. The ideal candidate combines deep clinical expertise with exceptional teaching and communication skills to elevate wound care practices and outcomes across the region. This opportunity allows you to build your own schedule full or part time.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Expertise & Oversight

  • Serve as the regional clinical expert on wound care, including assessment, staging, treatment planning, and ongoing management
  • Perform advanced wound assessments and provide recommendations aligned with evidence-based practices
  • Support facilities in managing complex wounds, pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and chronic ulcers
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational wound care standards and protocols

Education & Training

  • Deliver in-person and virtual training programs to nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams
  • Develop and implement wound care education materials, competencies, and best practice guidelines
  • Mentor and coach clinical staff to improve wound care knowledge, documentation, and outcomes
  • Lead root cause analysis and quality improvement initiatives related to wound care

Program Development & Quality Improvement

  • Standardize wound care protocols and documentation practices across the region
  • Monitor wound care metrics, trends, and outcomes; provide actionable insights to leadership
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to improve quality measures and reduce wound prevalence
  • Support survey readiness and participate in regulatory audits as needed

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with DONs, administrators, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Communicate clinical findings, risks, and recommendations clearly and effectively
  • Act as a liaison between corporate clinical leadership and facility teams
Travel
  • Travel regularly across the country to support multiple sites
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule based on facility needs and priorities
Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Wound Care Certification preferred (e.g., WCC, CWCN, CWON)
  • Minimum 35 years of wound care experience, preferably in post-acute care, SNF, or long-term care settings
  • Strong working knowledge of wound care products, treatments, and regulatory requirements
  • Proven experience in staff education, training, and clinical program development
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a regional schedule effectively
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and clinical documentation
