What is a virtual solar appointment setter?

Virtual Solar Appointment Setters are professionals who work remotely to contact potential customers, educate them about solar energy solutions, and schedule appointments for sales representatives. They typically use phone calls, emails, or online chat to engage leads, qualify prospects, and coordinate meetings. This role is essential for solar companies to expand their customer base and streamline the sales process by ensuring that only interested and eligible clients are connected with sales teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a virtual solar appointment setter?

To thrive as a Virtual Solar Appointment Setter, you need strong communication skills, persuasive sales abilities, and a basic understanding of solar energy products, often supported by prior experience in telemarketing or customer service. Familiarity with CRM software, autodialer systems, and online meeting platforms is typically required. Outstanding listening skills, resilience, and a positive attitude help you build rapport and handle rejection effectively. These skills are crucial for generating qualified leads, booking appointments, and supporting the overall sales pipeline in a remote environment.

D2D Roofing Appointment Setter -- Utah

Simple Modern Energy

Lehi, UT • On-site

Job description

We're looking for driven, resilient people who'd rather be out talking to homeowners than sitting behind a desk. As a Setter, you're the first face of SME in the neighborhoods we work — no closing required, just great conversations and a knack for getting a homeowner to say "yes, let's talk more."

About Simple Modern Energy

Simple Modern Energy (SME) is a Utah-based home energy brokerage, in business for 3+ years. We help homeowners cut what they pay for power through solar, battery storage, roofing, and insulation — all under one team instead of a handful of separate contractors, with real installer partnerships and real numbers before anyone signs anything. We're growing the sales team behind that experience.

About the Role

You'll canvass assigned Utah neighborhoods door-to-door, introduce homeowners to what SME offers, and set qualified in-home appointments for our closing team. Twelve months in, top setters have a track record of high-quality, high-show-rate appointments and a real shot at moving into a closing role if that's the path they want.

What You'll Do

  • Canvass assigned neighborhoods door-to-door, 5+ hours per day in the field
  • Educate homeowners on solar savings and gauge genuine interest
  • Schedule qualified in-home appointments for SME's closing team
  • Log leads and activity accurately in SME app.
  • Represent SME professionally in every doorstep conversation
  • Hit daily and weekly appointment-setting targets

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • 18 years or older
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to assigned territories
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather, on your feet for extended periods
  • Thick skin — comfortable with a high-volume, high-rejection environment
  • Punctual and reliable; this role runs on showing up
  • Eligible to work in the US

Preferred (nice to have):

  • Prior door-to-door, canvassing, or commission sales experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Compensation

  • 1099 independent contractor
  • Paid training provided before you're out in the field solo

How to Apply

Send your resume (or a quick note about your sales background) to support@simplemodernenergy.com or message us directly on LinkedIn — mention this posting and we'll follow up within a few business days.
