Job description

Electrical Engineer - Postsecondary Education - Base Salary to 100k/year - Minneapolis, MN

  • Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its School of Engineering faculty. This position is ideal for an experienced Electrical Engineer or Computer Engineer interested in transitioning from industry into higher education. Prior teaching experience is not required, as training is provided. This role combines technical expertise with curriculum delivery, laboratory instruction, and student development while preparing future engineering professionals for entry-level careers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering curriculum covering electrical systems, circuit analysis, electronics, digital systems, embedded systems, computer architecture, power systems, controls, instrumentation, and related engineering topics
  • Deliver classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction using industry-standard engineering principles, equipment, and software
  • Evaluate student performance through assessments, laboratory exercises, projects, and examinations
  • Maintain and update curriculum, lesson plans, laboratory exercises, instructional materials, and training equipment
  • Recommend laboratory equipment upgrades and assist with laboratory planning and maintenance
  • Participate in curriculum development and continuous program improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with School of Engineering faculty on interdisciplinary curriculum development
  • Participate in Program Advisory Committee (PAC) activities related to curriculum, equipment, budgeting, and industry alignment
  • Support student recruitment, retention, advising, and placement activities
  • Maintain relationships with industry partners and professional engineering organizations to ensure curriculum remains aligned with current engineering practices
  • Stay current with advancements in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, automation, controls, electronics, and related technologies

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related engineering field
  • 3+ years of recent and relevant professional technical experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, electronics, electrical systems, embedded systems, automation, controls, power systems, circuit design, or related engineering disciplines
  • Experience with laboratory equipment, engineering software, technical documentation, and engineering design practices
  • Ability to develop and deliver technical instruction in classroom and laboratory environments
  • Prior teaching experience is NOT a requirement
