Job description

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Mentoring and advising students in the area of engineering.
  • Teaching engineering courses related to area of expertise.
  • Teaching other assigned courses and labs within the Engineering Core.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective communication in the classroom and interpersonally with students.
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities in teaching and classroom management.
  • Willingness to attend the BJU Summer Institute in Teaching Science.
  • Desire to create a "natural critical learning environment" for students in and out of the classroom.
  • Commitment to a biblically consistent view of science as articulated in the BJU Division of Natural Science philosophy statement.
  • Professional in appearance and presentation.
  • Exemplify a biblical role model for students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to personal professional development.
  • Participation in appropriate professional organizations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Graduate degree in engineering with expertise in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field that aligns with our current concentrations.
  • Master's Degree required. PhD and/or P.E. certification is preferred.
  • College classroom teaching experience preferred

COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • Microsoft Office
  • MATLAB
  • CAD (Solidworks, AutoCAD, Revit)
  • EDA software (MultiSim, LabVIEW)

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:
  • EIT or P.E. certification desired, but not required
