This role is commonly found in healthcare settings, where sitters observe patients who may be at risk of falls, self-harm, or other safety concerns. Virtual Sitters provide real-time alerts to on-site staff if intervention is needed. They do not provide direct medical care but play a crucial role in preventing accidents and ensuring a safe environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Virtual Sitter position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Virtual Sitter, you need strong observation skills, attention to detail, and a foundational understanding of remote monitoring practices, often supported by a background in patient care or caregiving. Familiarity with video surveillance platforms, communication systems, and remote alert software is typically required. Excellent verbal communication, patience, and the ability to respond calmly in stressful situations are standout soft skills for this role. These skills are essential for ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals under your supervision and for providing timely, effective responses when needed.

Your day may also include documenting incidents, logging shift notes, and participating in team briefings. The role is detail-oriented and requires you to remain attentive for long periods while balancing the need for discretion and privacy. Teamwork and clear communication with onsite staff are crucial for providing coordinated, effective care.
