The Safety Trainer is responsible for delivering training programs for employees working in a telecom construction environment. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety regulations while promoting a strong safety culture across all field operations.

What you'll do
  • Conduct safety training programs for field employees, construction crews, supervisors, and subcontractors.
  • Deliver training on topics including:
    • OSHA regulations, Fall protection and rescue, Tower climbing safety, Confined space entry, Electrical safety and lockout/tagout (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Defensive driving and fleet safety, Excavation and trenching safety, Hazard communication, Emergency response procedures
  • Coordinate new-hire safety orientation and onboarding programs.
  • Maintain training records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct field observations, audits, and safety inspections to identify training needs and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Assist with incident investigations and develop corrective action training when necessary.
  • Support safety meetings and ongoing safety awareness initiatives.
  • Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to address safety concerns and improve safe work practices.
  • Travel to job sites as required to provide hands-on training and coaching.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

What you'll need
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of telecom construction, utility construction, or safety training experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and telecom industry safety requirements.
  • Experience delivering classroom, virtual, and hands-on field training.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to travel to multiple project locations.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to access active construction sites and telecom facilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
