Senior Research Scientist

Clinical and Translational Science Institute - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26005042)

The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) at the University of Pittsburgh is looking for a Senior Research Scientist. This researcher will be responsible for:

  • Showing representation at scientific meetings: Formally representing the team at various scientific conferences and professional gatherings.
  • Collaborative Initiatives: Engaging directly on strategic initiatives within the Precision Medicine, International Initiatives, Primary Care, and Precision Community Engagement teams.
  • Grant and Manuscript Development: Leading/co-leading grant writing for upcoming projects, such as the R01.
  • Project Oversight/leadership: Managing the design and implementation of research projects and oversee diverse teams of students and staff.

There will be potential for patient/participant exposure with the need to work in multiple settings including clinical and research spaces. Candidate must be able to complete all CITI modules and obtain relevant access as needed for credentialling in the UPMC electronic health record.

Serves as subject matter expert and conducts independent scientific research projects from inception to presentation. Prepares and crafts various complex documentations of research results into manuscripts, proposals, grant applications, and presentations. Trains undergraduates, junior lab members, and research technicians. Manages laboratory policies and coordinates high-level work and project development in collaboration with other specialists.

Ability to operate a PC and communicate effectively verbally and in written form with a various people. Telephone skills, computer and keyboard skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills. Ability to be flexible in location assignment. Ability to participate in face to face or virtual meetings. Ability to connect with diverse groups of people.

Position will require standing or sitting for work with reasonable mobility to navigate location site and clinical exam space. Ability to move throughout campus to attend face to face meetings and or participate in virtual meetings or lift reports weighting approximately 15lbs
