Associate Attorney - Litigation (Construction & Infrastructure)

Locations: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orange County, or Sacramento, CA - 4 days in office, 1 remote
 
A well-established law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney (2-6 years of experience) to join its nationally recognized Construction & Infrastructure Practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex construction and infrastructure matters involving large public works projects, transportation, water, energy, commercial development, and construction-related disputes.
 
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in construction litigation and claims, excellent writing and analytical skills, and experience handling matters through discovery, motion practice, arbitration, and litigation. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney seeking significant responsibility, client exposure, and long-term growth within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent owners, developers, contractors, and other construction industry clients in litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters
  • Assist with construction claims involving contract disputes, delay claims, cost overruns, defective construction, and project performance issues
  • Draft and respond to written discovery, pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related documents
  • Conduct legal research and analyze complex legal and factual issues
  • Participate in case strategy, witness preparation, depositions, and hearings
  • Manage document review and eDiscovery processes
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients on all phases of litigation and dispute resolution

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in the California State Bar
  • 2-6 years of litigation experience
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Experience drafting and responding to discovery, pleadings, motions, and briefs
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with construction litigation, construction claims, commercial litigation, contract disputes, arbitration, eDiscovery, infrastructure projects, public works, or related practice areas is preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of significant projects

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $195,000 - $250,000, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Eligible for annual bonus opportunities
  • Associates who meet the annual billable expectation may earn a bonus equal to 15% of base salary
