SUMMARY OF POSITION: Converse University invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Interior Design Instructor to teach undergraduate courses with a focus on CAD and Revit beginning Fall 2026. This position plays an important role in preparing students for professional practice through the development of technical drawing, digital modeling, and visualization skills.

The Department of Art, Design and Letters is located within the School of the Arts and comprised of exceptional multi-disciplined programs in art and interior design. Fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), it is housed in the Milliken Fine Arts Building. At 30,000 square feet, there are designated classrooms in ceramics, sculpture, photography, printmaking, digital media, painting, drawing, and interior design.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated proficiency in:
    • Revit
    • AutoCAD (CAD)
    • Chief Architect
    • Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)
    • Enscape/Lumion
    • Virtual Reality (VR) / Augmented Reality (AR) applications
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to student-centered teaching and learning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior undergraduate teaching experience
  • Professional experience in interior design or architecture practice
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in design visualization and immersive environments
  • Engagement with industry standards and trends

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD (CAD), Chief Architect, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) Enscape/Lumion, Virtual Reality (VR)/Augmented Reality (AR) applications. Strong communication and organizational skills.

GUIDELINES AND SUPERVISION: This position is supervised by the Chair of the Department of Art, Design and Letters. The Adjunct Instructor of Interior Design is expected to self-manage their courses including development and delivery of content based on NASAD and CIDA standards as well as following the course description in the academic catalog. Additionally, they are expected to provide feedback, meeting deadlines for grade entry as required by the Office of the Registrar.
