Job description

General Summary: This position is primarily responsible for performing diagnostic mammography and radiographic exams in accordance radiological procedures in accordance with Gonzaba Medical Group organization and legal standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
General Requirements: All duties performed will be done accurately and in a timely manner.
1. Assumes responsibility for maintaining clinical competencies according to Gonzaba Medical Group policy.
2. Ensures customer service is always maintained at the highest level.
3. Exercise tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers.
4. Must always adhere to customer service expectations including in-person and virtual (via telephone, or telehealth applications) communication.
5. Participates in educational programs as needed.
6. Performs clerical functions as required including answering the telephone, filing, copying, and faxing, etc.
7. Assists with other modalities when available.
8. Other duties as assigned.
9. Maintain strict confidentiality.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Operates X-ray equipment and performs various mammography related procedures.
2. Develops and evaluates the images for technical quality such as density contrast, definition, and distortion.
3. Explains procedures and educates women about the role of regular mammography in preventive breast health.
4. Responsibilities also include preparing and maintaining records and files, and cleaning and adjusting equipment as needed.
5. Oversees Quality Assurance Mammography program.
6. Serves as a resource for other mammography technicians.
7. Performs mammograms, breast magnification/compression and other special exams.
8. Selects appropriate equipment and determines the most suitable anatomical positioning and shielding of patients for requested exams.
9. Sets mammography machines, executes the proper exam, and processes image.
10. Performs and maintains aseptic (sterile) environment when required for radiology exams in the radiology department.
11. Monitors (quality control) their own radiographs for technical quality by setting proper radiological techniques for each view/exam.
12. Obtains patient history for mammography exams and prepares x-ray jackets.
13. Maintains mammography and x-ray rooms in a clean and neat manner.
Work Environment: Clinic environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Mental / Physical Requirements: Requires manual dexterity, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance. Close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work efficiently under pressure.

Education and Training: Minimum high school education or equivalent . Requires completion of a formal radiologic technology training program in an A.M.A. approved school and is certified in Diagnostic Mammography. Must have an American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification. Must have a current Department of Health license. Must meet TDH mammography qualifications. Must be CPR and AED certified. Must keep all licenses and certifications current and in good standing as initial and continued employment is contingent up these credentials.
Experience: A minimum of one-year experience preferred in radiology.
Other Requirements: Computer Skills: Knowledge of word-processing software, spreadsheet software; Internet software and database software. RIS/PAC program knowledge is preferred.
