Job description

The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for assuring that all Virtual Construction deliverables meet the scope of work for the project and have incorporated all company/project standards for constructability.

A day in the life:
  • Develop Company Standard documents as requested by the Virtual Construction Manager and keeps and maintains those documents in a shareable site for distribution to all project teams/OU's.
  • Review and mark up all department shop drawings to identify diversions in scope and constructability.
  • Assures all BIM models and local trade models meet the company standards for completion and quality per the Virtual Construction Process and Responsibility
  • Works in a collaborative manner with respective BIM Supervisor that all drawing deliverables meet quality standards without affecting completion
  • Review models prior to BIM Sign Off to assure systems have been routed accurately and efficiently within the context of the contract documents and company standards for
  • Extract and QC all point layout files for all projects where Total Station layout will be performed and post the required files to the project site page per our
  • Works directly with the QA/QC Production Manager on Point Layout Scheduling to assure point files for layout are posted in a timely
  • Communicates with the respective Project Manager or Project Engineer as required to accomplish assigned tasks. Documents directives and notifies the Virtual Construction Manager of any changes effecting the completion of
  • Provides and reviews daily/weekly progress reports-i.e., quantity of drawings models reviewed, and any reports pertaining to your discipline as required by the Virtual Construction
  • Visits job sites as necessary to complete work
  • Attends meetings- for new and existing projects-as requested by Virtual Construction Manager required by
  • Other duties as assigned by Virtual Construction Manager

You should have:
  • Experience in schedule and budget management for all Virtual Construction cost codes.
  • High level understanding of his/her trade (mechanical pipe, plumbing or sheet metal) relative to commercial and industrial construction
  • Field experience at a foreman's level pertaining to his/her trade (mechanical pipe, plumbing or sheet metal)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and understand contract drawings, specs, and
  • Basic computer skills, (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Proficiency in CAD based software
  • Experience with AutoCad, Revit, and Navisworks
