Travel Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) – Nights | Rockford, IL | 13-Week Contract

MTK Healthcare is seeking an experienced Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment at Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center – Riverside in Rockford, Illinois.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RN with ICU and Cardiac Telemetry experience who is comfortable working in multiple acute care settings.

Position Details
  • Position: Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Location: Rockford, IL

  • Facility: Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center – Riverside

  • Start Date: ASAP (Quick Start)

  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks

  • Schedule: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

  • Number of Openings: 2

  • EMR: Epic

Position Overview

The Float Pool RN will provide high-quality patient care across multiple specialty units based on staffing needs. Candidates must have strong critical care skills and be comfortable floating between departments.

Units include:

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

  • Step-Down Unit

  • Medical-Surgical

  • Cardiac Telemetry

  • Stroke/Neuro

  • Cardiac Progressive Care

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.

  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and hospital policies.

  • Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes.

  • Develop and update patient care plans.

  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

  • Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR.

  • Float between assigned units as needed.

  • Promote patient safety and quality care initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care RN experience

  • Recent ICU experience required

  • Strong Cardiac Telemetry experience required

  • Current AHA BLS Certification

  • Current ACLS Certification

  • Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Responsibilities

The Certified Surgical Technologist will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers to ensure safe and efficient surgical procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and maintain sterile surgical instruments and supplies.

  • Set up and maintain sterile fields before and during surgery.

  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon throughout procedures.

  • Assist with instrumentation, retracting, suctioning, and passing surgical instruments.

  • Ensure proper handling of surgical specimens.

  • Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts.

  • Maintain patient safety and infection control standards.

  • Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures.

  • Participate in the rotating on-call schedule.

Surgical Experience Required

Candidates must have recent experience in:

  • Orthopedics & Total Joint Surgery

  • Neuro/Spine

  • Robotics (Da Vinci, Mako, Exactech, Stealth)

  • General Surgery

  • Urology

  • OB/GYN

  • ENT

  • Plastic Surgery

  • Trauma

Minimum Qualifications
  • Active Colorado Surgical Technologist (CST) License (DORA)Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program

  • Current CST Certification (NBSTSA, AST, or NCCT)

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification

  • Minimum 3 years of recent Surgical Technologist experience

  • Experience working in a fast-paced operating room environment

  • Must meet the facility's 75-mile radius rule for travelers
