JR. MACHINERY MAINTENANCE MECHANIC - GDIT

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT)

WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED

Security clearance level: Secret
US citizenship required

The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic must have:
Education: High School Diploma/GED
Experience: 12 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, facilities upkeep, or a related mechanical field (entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude may be considered).

Technical Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of mechanical components (gears, bearings, belts) and familiarity with the safe operation of common hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment.

  • Preventive Maintenance: Assist senior mechanics in performing routine preventive maintenance (PM) on machinery, equipment, and facility systems.

  • Basic troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair basic mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and plumbing issues under supervision.

  • Utilize precision instruments effectively, including torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges, to ensure equipment meets exact specifications.

  • Operate and maintain various mechanical systems, demonstrating a solid understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, general diesel engine theory, pumps, and valves.

  • Maintain a very strong and strict adherence to all workplace safety guidelines, hazard controls, and operational instructions.

  • Accurately follow complex instructions and technical procedures.
