Job description

Fisher Phillips, one of the oldest and largest labor and employment law firms representing management, has an opportunity for employment attorneys with over seven years of experience to join our team as Special Counsel in our Virtual Office.

This mostly remote role focuses on handling administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and employment litigation for a variety of firm clients, including those with Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI). In this role, you will be responsible for both handling employment matters directly and supervising others, including developing case strategies, drafting and reviewing work product, conducting depositions, and representing clients at hearings, conferences, and trials. There may be some travel (mostly local) involved with this role. Your primary focus will be on administrative charges, demand letters, and single-plaintiff litigation, with potential involvement in class actions and PAGA cases, as well as other labor and employment law matters. You will collaborate with partners and a team of attorneys, benefiting from the support of a team of paralegals and a shared secretarial pool within our Virtual Office.

This role will focus on efficient, high-quality legal work and give you increased flexibility without giving up the challenge of a full-cycle litigation practice. This position also comes with no business development pressure, allowing you to concentrate on providing exceptional legal services without the burden of additional non-billable hour demands. Our firm is committed to creating an empowering and inclusive workplace where your talents can thrive.

Expertise in handling employment law matters and the ability to work independently in a remote setting are essential. Additional qualifications include having a JD from an ABA accredited law school, more than seven years of experience in employment law and litigation, and active bar membership in good standing. Preferred qualifications include experience practicing in a law firm, experience with matters covered by EPLI, and having bar admission in California.

Fisher Phillips offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, generous paid time off, paid parental leave, a 401(k) plan with carve-out election and profit-sharing, life insurance, long-term disability coverage, an employee assistance program, and optional benefits such as critical care, accident, and hospital indemnity insurance, student loan refinancing, dependent life insurance, and pet insurance.

The annual salary range for this position is$185,000 - $200,000, with actual base pay determined by factors such as the selected billable hours target, experience, skills, and qualifications.
