Virtual Observer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Virtual Observer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Virtual Observer, you need strong attention to detail, situational awareness, and familiarity with surveillance protocols, often supported by a background in security or healthcare monitoring. Proficiency in using remote video monitoring systems, incident reporting software, and secure communication platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential soft skills in this role. These skills enable Virtual Observers to effectively detect and report safety risks or unusual activity, ensuring prompt intervention and maintaining a safe environment.

How does a Virtual Observer typically interact with healthcare staff during their shift?

As a Virtual Observer, you play a crucial role in patient safety by monitoring multiple patients remotely via video feeds. You collaborate closely with onsite healthcare staff, such as nurses and patient care technicians, by promptly communicating any concerning behaviors or incidents you observe. Effective communication and clear reporting are essential, as you may need to alert the care team in real time to prevent falls, self-harm, or other safety risks. This collaborative approach helps ensure a safer environment for patients and supports the clinical team in delivering attentive care.

What are Virtual Observers?

Virtual Observers are professionals who remotely monitor activities, environments, or processes through digital platforms, often using video feeds or specialized software. They are commonly employed in healthcare, security, customer service, and workplace safety to ensure compliance with protocols, detect issues, and provide real-time feedback. Their role helps organizations maintain safety and efficiency without needing to have someone physically present at the location being observed.

How to make $1000 a week remotely?

A virtual observer can increase earnings by taking on multiple remote monitoring or surveillance tasks, often paid per project or hour. Building skills in specific platforms, maintaining consistent work hours, and gaining experience can help reach a weekly income of $1000, especially when combining several assignments or clients.

Job description

Job Description
Skills and Experience:
  • Board-certified physician (emergency medicine, internal medicine, or family medicine preferred) with 5+ years in clinical practice, willing to continue practicing in a virtual care setting.
  • Experience leading and managing clinicians, including advanced practice providers.
  • Experience building or scaling a clinical program or service line, not just operating within one.
  • Comfort working with engineering, product, and data teams. You don't need to write code, but you need to think clearly about how technology shapes care delivery.
  • Experience designing interventions to improve population health outcomes and an understanding of how to measure and track care quality.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams across clinical and non-clinical functions.
  • Experience with virtual care, Medicare populations, or urgent care preferred.

A bit more about this role:
Devoted Medical, Devoted Health's virtual-first, AI-native medical group delivering multi-specialty and advanced primary care, is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and mission-driven Physician Leader to serve as the Medical Director, Care Ondemand. This is a highly impactful position: you will serve as the clinical leader of a portfolio of clinical services that serves as the clinical backbone in our organization. This includes leading our virtual primary care extension, virtual urgent care, virtual observation unit (episodic care). The service operates 24/7 and ensures that all members of Devoted Health have a way to access care.
This represents an amazing opportunity for an ambitious clinician-leader with an entrepreneurial streak. As the Medical Director for Care Ondemand, you are responsible for building a team and an operation to handle the acute and routine needs of our membership. Specifically, you will provide clinical leadership for the 3 layers of Devoted's Care Ondemand Program: (1) Care OnDemand - inbound triage and virtual / digital immediate care (2) Primary Care Extension- enterprise wide immediate care support for low acuity PCP extension care (3) Virtual Observation Unit - multi-day care of acute clinical issues (e.g. CHF exacerbation or complicated infections) by an interprofessional team. All functions of the service are supported by a rapidly expanding digital platform and AI-powered care tools.
In short, we want to build an unprecedented access point to care and meet the needs of our members in a way they thought imaginable - well before they feel compelled to use urgent care or the emergency room unnecessarily.
On a day to day basis, you'd be responsible for:
  • Developing and evolving the vision for the service line including expansion into increasingly AI-enabled digital channels
  • Clinical architect of the care model
  • Provide direct patient care and available for clinical escalations
  • Direct leadership of the clinical managers - and indirectly the entire Care on Demand clinical staff (RN, NP, MDs)
  • Managing vendors and technology needed to achieve success (e.g. mobile radiology, mobile phlebotomy)
  • Coordinating with Devoted's network leaders and community primary care practices to ensure continuity and cohesive care
  • Cross-functional coordination within Devoted (e.g. Marketing) to promote utilization of the service line

Who thrives in this role:
  • You are an excellent clinician who cares deeply about the well-being of your patients and brings strong judgment to both clinical and operational decisions.
  • You are a builder. You can stand up a new service line from scratch and manage all the parts: people, operations, vendors, technology, and cross-organizational coordination.
  • You are energized by AI and technology and see them as tools to make care better, not threats to the craft of medicine.
  • You are a happy warrior. In a great environment with smart, caring people working toward a common aim, you are comfortable working hard.
  • You are wired for learning, change, and rapid iteration. You would rather try something, learn, and adjust than wait for perfect information.
  • You think in terms of the big picture and sweat the details. You can present a vision to leadership and then turn around and solve a workflow problem on the front line.

If you want to build something that has never existed before, at the intersection of clinical medicine, technology, and operational excellence, and do it alongside a team that is as talented as it is kind, we'd love to hear from you.
About Devoted Medical:
Devoted Medical is the clinical engine of Devoted Health, a next-generation health company built from the ground up to care for every person like family. Devoted Medical is a virtual-first, AI-native medical group where nearly 700 clinicians delivered over 200,000 encounters last year. Our clinicians spend as much time as each patient needs, end the day with their notes done, and consistently describe this as the best work of their careers with a team of coworkers that is warm, intelligent, and mission-driven. And Devoted Medical is at the cutting edge of technology, powered by more than 5,000 AI agents built into every workflow. The results back it up: patient trust scores of 98.9%, satisfaction ratings of 4.9 out of 5, healthier patients with fewer readmissions, fewer acute events, better controlled chronic disease, and medical costs 42% below traditional Medicare benchmarks. We're scaling rapidly and just getting started. If you want to practice medicine the way it should be practiced, with the technology, time, and team to actually do it, this is the place.
