Job description

Position Summary
The Program Leader supports the delivery of Girl Scouts of Northern California (GSNorCal) Community Based Programs (CBP) at assigned program sites and virtual programs, when applicable. Program sites may include schools, affordable housing communities, juvenile justice facilities, residential youth homes, community organizations, and other youth-serving locations.
This position facilitates engaging program experiences, supervises participants, builds positive relationships with youth, families, schools, and community partners, supports program safety, and helps ensure high-quality program delivery aligned with the Girl Scout Mission.
This is a part-time position that combines direct program delivery with preparation, planning, staff meetings, trainings, and other operational responsibilities. Employees are expected to maintain reliable attendance, communicate professionally, and provide consistent support for assigned programming throughout the year.
Essential Functions
  • Facilitate engaging activities, lessons, and learning experiences for participants during in-person and virtual programming.
  • Report to assigned program sites and fulfill scheduled program responsibilities.
  • Supervise participants while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Adapt curriculum, materials, timelines, and activities to meet participant needs while maintaining program quality.
  • Prepare program materials and supplies.
  • Support program planning, recruitment, family engagement, field trips, and other department initiatives as assigned.
  • Submit attendance, reports, photos, and required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Promptly report participant concerns, safety concerns, incidents, staffing concerns, and site concerns.
  • Maintain timely communication with the Program Manager or supervisor.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, planning meetings, coaching sessions, and department check-ins.
  • Develop positive relationships with participants, families, schools, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule, Availability amp; Assignment Expectations
  • This is a part-time position with schedules that vary throughout the year based on program needs.
  • Employees must maintain a minimum recurring availability of five (5) hours per week.
  • Employees are hired to provide direct program support and are expected to report to assigned program sites as scheduled.
  • Administrative, planning, preparation, and operational tasks supplement—but do not replace—direct program responsibilities unless approved by the supervisor.
  • Employees are expected to maintain their committed recurring availability and communicate changes at least two weeks in advance.
  • Supervisor approval is required for recurring availability changes that impact assigned programming or department operations.
  • Program assignments, schedules, hours, locations, and responsibilities may vary throughout the year based on department needs. Employees are expected to attend assigned programs, meetings, trainings, and required department activities that fall within their established availability.
