Job description

Position Description & Qualifications

Serco seeks a Cyber Systems Administrator for its Combat Air Force Distributed Mission Operations (CAF DMO) 3.0 program in Hampton, VA. The CAF DMO 3.0 program, via its Distributed Mission Operations Network (DMON), provides world-class integration training in large force and small team formats to combat units around the globe against cutting-edge threats in a boundless virtual battlespace. The U.S. Air Force can only utilize its full capability against modern threats in a virtual environment. Be a part of that environment and continue to make the USAF the best air force in the world.

In this role, you will:

  • Monitoring and performing health checks of critical network infrastructure and systems

  • Performing daily operations support, infrastructure maintenance, system patching, and ticket resolution

  • Conducting incident response, troubleshooting, communication, and reporting activities

  • Collaborating with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to review, prioritize, and plan engineering support activities

  • Providing ancillary support to security teams conducting system security assessments to validate compliance

  • Working with program leadership to implement process improvements and system optimizations

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An active DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI and SAP/SAR.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Computer Science, Modeling & Simulation, Physics, Math, Systems Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering) and 5 years relevent experience

  • OR a Master's degree in STEM (Computer Science, Modeling & Simulation, Physics, Math, Systems Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering) and 3 years relevent experience

  • An active/current DoD 8140 IAT Level II or higher (i.e. Security+, CySA+, CISSP).

  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) to include application packaging, deployment, patch management, task sequencing, OS imaging, and compliance baselines as well as troubleshooting client–server communication, distribution point issues, and software update deployments.

  • Demonstrated experience with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) to include configuration and maintenance of WSUS infrastructure, synchronization, approval workflows, troubleshooting updates and integration with MECM for enterprise patch management.

  • Demonstrated experience with VMware virtualization to include administration of VMware vSphere/ESXi environments, VM provisioning, resource allocation, snapshots, performance monitoring and understanding of HA/DRS clusters and virtual networking.

  • Demonstrated experience with Windows Server & Desktop Operating Systems to include administration of Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022/2025), strong knowledge of Windows 11 configuration, performance tuning and troubleshooting as well as experience with Active Directory, DNS, GPOs, and file and print services.

  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash).

  • Experience with monitoring tools and log analysis.

  • Ability to work in fast‑paced enterprise environments and support large-scale infrastructure.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems (e.g., breaking down problems, collaborating about problems and solutions, designing solutions, etc.).

  • Ability to document concepts, approaches, and rationale in an understandable manner (especially as part of problem solving).

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Certificate Services / PKI Implementation to include deployment and management of Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), certificate enrollment, auto-enrollment, templates, and lifecycle management, understanding of SSL/TLS, CRLs, OCSP, and certificate-based authentication.

  • Ansible to include developing, maintaining, and optimizing Ansible playbooks and roles for configuration management and automated deployments, troubleshooting automation failures and improving CI/CD workflow and implementing infrastructure-as-code best practices across Linux and Windows environments.

  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange to include the administration of exchange on-prem or hybrid environments, managing mail flow, transport rules, mailbox provisioning, troubleshooting, support migrations, patching, and high‑availability configurations.
