What is a virtual LPC?

Virtual LPCs are Licensed Professional Counselors who provide mental health counseling services remotely through secure online platforms. They offer the same support and guidance as in-person counselors, including therapy for individuals, couples, or groups, but sessions take place via video calls, phone, or messaging. Virtual LPCs are required to hold the same licensure as traditional counselors and adhere to privacy and ethical guidelines. This approach allows clients to access mental health care conveniently from their own location, making counseling more accessible for many people.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a virtual LPC?

To thrive as a Virtual Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), you need a master's degree in counseling or a related field, state licensure, and expertise in mental health assessment and intervention. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic health record systems, and HIPAA compliance is essential. Strong active listening, empathy, and digital communication skills distinguish successful counselors in virtual settings. These competencies ensure effective therapeutic relationships, client confidentiality, and the delivery of quality mental health care remotely.

What are some common challenges faced by virtual LPCs when providing remote counseling, and how can they be addressed?

Virtual Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) often encounter challenges such as building rapport with clients through digital platforms, managing technology issues, and ensuring client privacy. To address these, LPCs can use secure, user-friendly telehealth platforms, establish clear communication guidelines, and implement best practices for virtual engagement. Regular training on teletherapy tools and maintaining a structured routine can also help foster a supportive and effective counseling environment.

Evara Mental Health Services, a renowned outpatient therapy provider, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to join our fully remote team. In this role, you will deliver compassionate mental health care and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to clients across Tennessee, all from the convenience of your own home. This full-time position requires a commitment to providing exceptional mental health services in a supportive virtual environment.

About the Organization

Evara Mental Health Services is committed to enhancing the well-being of individuals, couples, and families through effective outpatient therapy. Our practice is rooted in a patient-centered approach and embraces the integration of technology and mental health care. We value a culture that fosters inclusivity, collaboration, and continuous learning, making it an ideal environment for dedicated professionals.

Work Environment

Our remote setting allows you to work from anywhere in Tennessee, offering the flexibility to adapt your working hours to your lifestyle. Youโ€™ll connect with clients through a secure telehealth platform, ensuring privacy and compliance with HIPAA standards. This role involves a Monday to Friday schedule, from 9 AM to 5 PM, with opportunities for evening and weekend sessions if desired.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual and couples therapy sessions via our HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, tailored to suit the unique needs of each client.
  • Perform comprehensive intake assessments to evaluate client needs and establish a strong therapeutic alliance.
  • Design and implement personalized treatment plans, utilizing evidence-based methodologies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and others.
  • Maintain detailed and timely clinical documentation in our electronic health record (EHR) system to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and case consultations to enhance clinical skills and share insights with colleagues.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers as necessary, advocating for clients' well-being and ensuring they receive holistic, coordinated care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your clients will include a diverse range of individuals, couples, and families experiencing varying degrees of mental health challenges. Evara serves a broad spectrum of patient demographics, providing you with the opportunity to work with clients facing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. The remote model promotes accessibility, allowing us to reach those who may otherwise face barriers to receiving care.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field is required.
  • An active LPC license in Tennessee is mandatory, or you must be license-eligible within 90 days of hiring.
  • At least two years of clinical experience in individual and relational therapy is essential for this role.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote capacity, managing caseloads independently while demonstrating strong organization skills.
  • Access to reliable internet service, a private workspace conducive to therapy sessions, and proficiency with technology.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in providing telehealth services is highly desirable, ideally familiar with virtual communication techniques.
  • Training and proficiency in evidence-based practices (such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, ACT) will enhance your effectiveness in meeting client needs.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of cultural sensitivities in mental health therapy.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 annually, along with comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement planning, and reimbursement for continuing education units (CEUs). Our flexible structure allows for both W2 and 1099 compensation options, providing you with the choice that best fits your professional goals.
