Job description

Job Details
Telehealth / Virtualist Physician to join Jefferson's growing On Demand Urgent Care team, delivering high quality, patient centered virtual care. This role is ideal for a motivated clinician dedicated to efficient, evidence based management of acute concerns in a fully remote care environment.
Physicians must reside in PA, NJ, or DE and must obtain and maintain active licensure in all three states. An active Pennsylvania DEA is required upon start.
Job Description
Assessment & Management
  • Conduct comprehensive telehealth-appropriate medical evaluations, including focused histories and virtual examinations.
  • Order and interpret diagnostics aligned with virtual urgent care capabilities.
  • Manage a broad range of acute, non-life-threatening conditions commonly treated in urgent care settings.
  • Assess for clinical red flags and determine need for escalation or in-person evaluation.

Diagnosis
  • Develop and prioritize differential diagnoses for acute and episodic conditions.
  • Collaborate with APCs and multidisciplinary team members to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Recognize complications requiring escalation and coordinate referrals to in-person care.

Formulation of Care Plan
  • Create and implement evidence-based care plans appropriate to the virtual environment.
  • Prescribe medications and diagnostics within state scope and telehealth guidelines.
  • Modify treatment plans based on evolving symptoms or follow-up.

Documentation
  • Document all telehealth encounters in the EMR (EPIC), including assessment, plan, orders, and follow-up instructions.
  • Maintain documentation standards that support telehealth acuity capture, compliance, and quality.

Communication & Collaboration
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding virtual visit expectations, treatment plans, and follow-up.
  • Partner with APC colleagues, clinical leaders, and support staff across the Jefferson network to maintain seamless continuity of care.

Professional Practice
  • Participate in telehealth-specific and organization training, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain board certification, CME, and required licensure.
  • Uphold Jefferson values and contribute to innovation in virtual care.
  • Provide cosigning for APC (NP/PA) documentation, orders, and prescriptions as required by state regulations and Jefferson policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:
  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified / Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
  • Active licensure (or ability to obtain) in PA, NJ, and DE.
  • Active Pennsylvania DEA.
  • Experience in Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, or Acute Care settings.
  • Comfortable seeing patients of ALL ages.

Preferred:
  • Prior telehealth experience.
  • Experience in high-acuity triage, virtual workflows, and remote clinical decision-making.
