Employees must sign a written service agreement completing a specified period of employment with the FBI at the new duty station. Recruitment and relocation incentives cannot be combined.

UNIT DESCRIPTION
DEFO provides strategic leadership to leverage OTD's expertise and digital evidence capabilities in support of the FBI's technical and investigative personnel.
KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a current, permanent FBI employee
• Some travel will be required (less than 25%of the time)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

MAJOR DUTIES

• Serve as a senior information technology (IT) specialist for projects. Act as a technical consultant addressing complex advanced systems projects and critical problems for Computer Analysis Response Team (CART) case and inventory management systems.
• Provide advice and guidance to the FBI's management regarding all technical issues which pertain to the planning, designing, developing, procuring, implementing, operating, and maintaining of the FBI's IT systems.
• Administer and maintain unit-managed IT systems and services, hosted locally and remotely. Complete hardware and software troubleshooting, restoration of the services, and other tasks as necessary.
• Serve as a technical point-of-contact (POC) for Cybersecurity initiatives. Participate and support the unit test and validation program. Collaborate to validate digital forensic tools evaluated by the test and validation program.
• Confer with other group or team members associated with conducting feasibility studies, system analysis, design reviews, programming, networking, etc. of proposed new or enhanced systems to provide guidance and direction. Coordinate group efforts to ensure efficient, effective, and progressive use of IT techniques/disciplines in the analysis and conceptualization of IT systems.

Specialized Experience (SE)
GS-14: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

• Experience creating and managing projects, including IT systems or software development.
• Experience composing presentations for projects and making presentations to management.
• Experience with research, testing, and validation of hardware/software information, utilizing standard scientific and laboratory principles and methods.
• Experience having knowledge of cyber security principles and practices as they relate to enterprise-wide IT systems.

Desired Skills
Desired skills are NOT mandatory and will NOT be utilized to minimally qualify applicants.

• Experience with system administration for Linux and Windows virtual machines that host various web application systems.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Limited Movement: Policy has been implemented wherein support employees entering a position may be precluded from moving to another position within the Bureau through reassignment or change to a lower grade for a minimum of 12 months. HRD will waive this limited movement policy for qualified employees, who have received an official notification letter that their current position is being relocated due to an organizational restructuring initiative, so those employees can compete for a position elsewhere.
