Job description

This is a 1.0 FTE position as a 3rd Grade Teacher at Vinton Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year.ย  Applicants must hold a current Indiana Elementary Generalist license covering grades K-6. Applicants enrolled in an IDOE approved Transition to Teaching program in the area of Elementary Education will also be considered. ย Please complete a certified EXTERNAL application through the employment link of the LSC website. ย  Those teachers already working in the LSC on a regular teaching contract may apply for transfer by completing an INTERNAL applitrack application found on the employment link of the LSC web page no later than 4:30pm on Monday, June 22, 2026.ย  Vinton Elementary is located in Lafayette just one hour north of downtown Indianapolis and two hours south of downtown Chicago along I -65 in west central Indiana.ย  Vinton serves over 400 students and operates on a 4-Day work week, Monday through Thursday and select Fridays. Lafayette is a growing city with a strong economic base.ย  The Greater Lafayette Area is the home of Purdue University and the presence of the university helps to make Lafayette one of the greatest places to live in the Midwest.

Position Summary

The Lafayette School Corporation is seeking a highly effective, student-centered educator to serve as a 4th Grade Teacher at Vinton Elementary School for the 20262027 school year.

The successful candidate will provide engaging, standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts, mathematics, science, and social studies while fostering a positive classroom environment where all students are challenged and supported to achieve their full potential. The ideal candidate is committed to building strong relationships with students and families, collaborating with colleagues, and using data to inform instruction.

As a fourth grade teacher, the selected candidate will help students strengthen foundational skills while preparing them for the increased academic expectations of the upper elementary grades. This includes guiding students as they develop critical thinking, problem-solving, independence, and organizational skills. The teacher will create meaningful learning experiences that encourage curiosity, perseverance, and confidence while supporting each student's academic, social, and emotional growth.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about elementary education, skilled at differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs, and dedicated to working as part of a collaborative school team focused on continuous improvement and student success.


Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana Elementary Generalist (K6) teaching license
  • Candidates enrolled in an approved Transition to Teaching program or eligible for an Indiana Emergency Permit in Elementary Education will be considered
  • Strong knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards and best instructional practices
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Effective classroom management and communication skills
  • Commitment to collaboration and continuous professional growth
  • Experience integrating technology into instruction preferred
