Job Description:

GDIT is looking for Sr. Database Administrator to join our National Institutes of Health (NIH) CIT Hosting and Storage Services Program.

We are seeking a forward-thinking innovator who brings deep curiosity for emerging technologies and a commitment to exploring how new digital capabilities can elevate human expertise rather than replace it. Our ideal candidate champions responsible experimentation, learns quickly from iteration, and approaches complex challenges with a critical, growth minded perspective that fuels continuous modernization and meaningful impact.

This is a HYBRID role - 3 days on customer site in Bethesda MD.

This role will require you to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and will require you to provide onsite fingerprinting at a designated facility. This investigation may review personal and criminal behavior, financial conduct, foreign influence, as well as other adjudications.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs tuning, optimization, and advanced maintenance
  • Handles patching, backups, and complex troubleshooting
  • Maintains DB documentation and records
  • Collaborating with product owners to develop new or modify existing scripts to automate database services, such as configuration of new database instances, patching, and upgrades
  • Troubleshooting issues that impact services and actively responding to alerts and performance trends
  • Responding to service requests, such as complicated product deployment efforts that require coordination to modify data and database hosting configurations
  • Joining sprint or ad hoc meetings to discuss requirements for products and brainstorm new technical solutions
  • Attending a daily stand-up meeting to report your accomplishments, plans for the day, and any roadblocks you encountered

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6+ years in advanced database administration
  • Experience with tuning, recovery, and optimization
  • Skilled in documenting schemas and patch cycles
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with a variety of technologies to develop, maintain, and deploy infrastructure services, such as continuous deployment and continuous integration services, code repositories, and security vulnerability identification and protection.
  • NIH experience strongly preferred

The likely salary range for this position is $124,093 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
