Job description
Summary/Objective
Pre-Licensure Nursing Faculty, develop, implement, evaluate and analyze the student education experiences in the classroom, clinical, lab, and simulation settings. Faculty serve as course content experts in the classroom and clinical settings. They are responsible for coordinating and disseminating content, course activities, exam analysis/review, and clinical experiences. Actively participate in nursing accreditation planning, maintenance, and analysis of program standards and criterion to guide program decisions.
Essential Job Duties
- Teach an average minimum of 12 credit hours per semester
- Advise students in academic pursuits
- Assist in the development and evaluation of curricula
- Serve on University committees as assigned
- Serve on college committees as assigned
- Attend and participates in departmental and college meetings
- Participate in course meetings
- Maintain office hours
- Ensure positive learning environment for students
- Comply with University guidelines regarding faculty duties and requirements
- Participate in academic processions and wear academic regalia as required
- Regularly attend University, Springfield admissions, and department driven recruiting events
- Plan, assist, and/or attend college and department led events such as award ceremonies, focus groups, community sponsored events, community service events, etc.

- Maintain expertise in nursing practice and education through professional development and/or clinical practice
- Participate in accreditation data collection, review, and analysis to maintain standards and criteria of the nursing accrediting body and the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
- Serve as course content and clinical experts for adjunct faculty to provide consistent student experiences
- Participate in simulation/LRC scheduling each semester
- Participate in computer lab testing, exam review, and standardized testing schedule each semester
- Hold individual student success appointments for students scoring less than 75% test average after each exam and/or success plans in the clinical setting
- Assist in determining clinical placement needs for student learning experiences each semester
- Develop course clinical calendar each semester
- Coordinate 2 clinical credit hours (90 clock hours) of learning experiences for approximately 70-90 students each semester
- Participate in curriculum committees to determine teaching and assessment methods to meet course learning outcomes
- Maintain required course documentation per nurse accreditation guidelines and the MO State Board of Nursing
- Create, administer, and analyze exams per testing guidelines
- Assist with student issues including creating success plans, exposures in the clinical setting, and unsuccessful students
- Serve as mentor/preceptor to new faculty and adjuncts
- Participate in the evaluation of adjunct faculty by providing feedback to program leadership
- Semester faculty to coordinate LRC activities/LFSIM supply requests and needs with LRC coordinator
- Semester faculty to provide current semester calendar to LRC coordinator

Position Requirements
Required
- Master of Science in Nursing Education or enrolled in a Master of Science in Nursing Education program
- Current and unencumbered RN license in the state of Missouri
- Current BLS through the American Heart Association
- Minimum 1 year of teaching experience in higher education and/or education or leadership in a clinical nursing setting (this includes precepting in a hospital setting)
Preferred
- Three years of teaching experience in higher education
- Willingness to pursue a doctorate degree in nursing
- Possess the ability to work positively with persons and groups of persons in the solution of problems and implementation of programs
- Have the ability to delegate to others
- Flexible with strong communication, problem solving, and organization skills
Work Environment
Must be able to work in a typical office, virtual/seated classroom, lab, simulation, and/or clinical environment. Travel to other campuses and clinical sites required.
