Job description

Description

The Community Supervision Officer (CSO) bridges the gap and acts as a liaison between the criminal justice system and clients who have been placed on probation. As a CSO, you will be responsible for ensuring the client's caseload is properly managed and all conditions of their court order are completed successfully. You will work closely with clients to assess their progress, create and send case reports, complete drug screens, document all interactions, keep client informed of any upcoming court hearings and make sure they are attended. Regularly conduct in-person office visits, virtual appointments, and call-in appointments for case assessments and address any issues. Provide exceptional customer service to courts, agencies, and clients at all times.


KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise and manage a caseload of clients on probation, in pre-trial status, or in the electronic monitoring program. Ensure the compliance of all programs and court orders are met and successfully completed in the allotted time frame as required.
  • Collaborate with clients, judges, prosecutors, etc. to develop and implement customized individual supervision plans.
  • Assist the court, and/or its representatives, whenever needed.
  • Conduct regular in-person, virtual, and phone visits with clients.
  • Conduct drug and alcohol screening as required.
  • Provide guidance and referrals to clients for necessary services, such as substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, job placement, or anger management.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all client interactions, progress and compliance, and prepare reports for the court.
  • Appear in court to provide testimony and give recommendations regarding a client's progress and compliance.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in Community Supervision and rehabilitation to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Collect payments from clients. Balance and make deposits for payments received.
  • Local travel may be required.
  • Other job assignments, as required.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic knowledge of criminal justice procedures.
  • Must have excellent customer service, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Empathy and the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a reliable source of transportation.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Valid auto insurance.
