Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in production operations within a 24/7 environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Demonstrated skill in network troubleshooting and configuration, including experience with Juniper, Arista, or Cisco devices.
  • Hands-on experience with server hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python).
  • Solid understanding of routing protocols, particularly BGP and OSPF.
  • Ability to work onsite four days per week and participate in an on-call rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible, and Git.
  • Background in building or replacing system hardware.
  • Exposure to new product integration processes.
  • Experience defining and monitoring IT services.
Description:
The role centers on maintaining and supporting a large-scale virtual CMTS (vCMTS) platform, with responsibilities split between Linux systems and Network operations. The position requires strong incident response skills, hands-on troubleshooting ability, and comfort working in a 24/7 operational environment.
Position Overview
The NGAN Operations Engineer is a key member of the NGAN Operations team, responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of the vCMTS platform. The role involves system installation, network configuration, operational support, and participation in an on-call rotation. The engineer will work closely with software development, product, and project management teams to operationalize new products and maintain high service availability.
This position requires onsite presence four days per week and includes a structured onboarding plan: approximately three months of training, followed by three months of independent work, with the expectation of being fully up to speed by month six.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain vCMTS platform software, system components, and network infrastructure.
  • Perform system upgrades, hardware replacements (RMA), and automation tasks using scripting tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Linux system issues, network incidents, and service degradations.
  • Participate in incident mitigation, including on-call rotation covering weekends and holidays.
  • Identify recurring service-impacting issues and collaborate with development teams on long?term solutions.
  • Support new product integration efforts in partnership with Product and Project Management.
  • Manage and maintain networking configurations, including routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • Handle operational responsibilities in a 24/7 environment, ensuring adherence to established protocols and procedures.
  • Contribute to defining, implementing, and monitoring IT services and operational workflows.
Work Environment
  • Fast-paced, mission-critical operations team supporting a 24/7 service.
  • On-call rotation required, including weekends and holidays.
