Job Summary:
Adventist Health Columbia Gorge is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Assistant Chaplain for a per diem position with 8-hour variable shifts. This role requires onsite work at our The Dalles, Oregon location. We are looking for a qualified candidate who is committed to providing spiritual care and support to patients, families, and staff in a healthcare setting.
Provides spiritual counseling, support and care in line with beliefs and desires of patients, family members and interdisciplinary team members in times of spiritual distress or crisis.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
  • Ecclesiastical endorsement from the chaplain's respective denomination or faith tradition: Required

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid Driver's License (DL) and must be at least 21 yrs of age or older: Required
  • Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries Ecclesiastical Endorsement (ACM) or Non-Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries Ecclesiastical Endorsement (NACM): Required

Essential Functions:
  • Provides pastoral care services on an on-call basis for patients in various situations, such as those undergoing surgical procedures, facing end-of-life issues and following traumatic accidents under the guidance and supervision of mission leadership.
  • Provides comfort and support for patient family members and friends.
  • Responds to requests for pastoral care in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the religious and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones are met. Acts as a spiritual resource for staff under the guidance and supervision of mission leadership.
  • Accountable to the organizational mission.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
