Job title and description: Graduate Assistant - Academic Coaching

The Academic Coaching Graduate Assistant will act as a liaison between the Learning Commons and communities within the Stockton and Turlock campuses. The academic coach provides coaching to students on learning strategies and college success skills, promotes services, and connects students to resources. The academic coach will participate in online and in-person staff development, facilitate academic success workshops, assist with data input and tracking, contribute to research, develop marketing materials, conduct outreach to students, refer students to Learning Commons and campus resources, and work on other projects as assigned. By working with the Learning Commons to promote services, coordinate support interventions, implement culturally responsive learning support models, create learning strategy resources, and assist with data collection and assessment efforts, the graduate assistant will play a critical role in increasing student success.

We plan to hire two academic coaches with one academic coach focusing on the Stockton campus and one focusing on the Turlock campus. Successful hires will engage in an approximate four week development process to engage in academic coaching research, practices, and to build campus connections. We plan to have positions begin in July with a month development and training experience.

Wage/Salary: Approximately $1623/month based on 19 hours worked/week and at 0.5 FTE

Hours per Week: 20 hours

Location: Coaches will be assigned to the Stockton or Turlock campus with most of their work hours occurring on that respective campus. Some travel between Stockton and Turlock campuses for meetings, collaborations, and trainings will be needed.

Experience with academic coaching models designed to support students from diverse backgrounds
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Ability to exercise good judgment and be able to work independently without direct supervision
Ability to effectively prioritize, manage multiple tasks, track, and follow through on student connections
Assist with assessment of programmatic and holistic student success outcomes
Ability to work with diverse groups of students, faculty and staff
Experience with facilitation of workshops and/or presentations
Excellent technology skills: Word, Excel, Learning Center Management Platform (StanTutor), WarriorConnect (EAB), Canvas and other software
Experience providing learning support or academic coaching in virtual and in-person environments
Experience collecting or creating learning support resources and tools accessible to participants and/or peer educators
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and build a network of referrals to support students' connections with resources on the Stockton and Turlock campus
Experience working with students in groups and in one-on-one settings
Knowledge of Learning Commons services and campus resources
Knowledge of campus policies and procedures
Demonstrated persistence and creativity in encouraging use of services and problem solving
Ability to work collaboratively and attend planning meetings with Learning Commons and grant staff, faculty and graduate students
Ability to work for at least two semesters
