Calle Sol Latin Café & Cevicheria opened in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood in 2021, with the second location opening up in Southpark in 2024, and has quickly become a vibrant dining destination, reminiscent of the dynamic eateries of Tampa and Miami. Our menu is a flavorful journey through Latin America, featuring signature pressed sandwiches, exquisite ceviches, and a broad spectrum of dishes that celebrate the diversity and zest of Latin culinary traditions.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Sous Chef with experience in Latin cuisine to join our team at Calle Sol Latin Café & Cevicheria. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the authenticity and flair of our offerings, ensuring each dish carries the hallmark of Latin warmth and innovation. Our chefs, drawing from their extensive knowledge of Latin America and Florida, craft a diverse menu featuring tantalizing Latin American specialties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Lead, train, and develop kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Oversee the preparation and cooking of menu items, ensuring consistency and excellence in every dish.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and kitchen supplies to maintain efficient operations.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
  • Contribute to menu development and the creation of new dishes that reflect the vibrant flavors of Latin America.
  • Monitor and control food costs to maximize profitability.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-volume restaurant environment.
  • Strong culinary skills with a passion for Latin American cuisine.
  • Understanding and experience with wok cooking techniques and Peruvian/Cuban cooking techniques.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with food handling, safety, and compliant restaurant guidelines for Mecklenburg County.
  • High School Diploma (Culinary Degree preferred).
