Primary Job Functions: Provide supplemental instructional support to multi-lingual learners under the direction of the ML and classroom teachers in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing to improve language acquisition.
Salary Lane: ASST - Hourly pay starting at $18.50.
Job Status: Part-Time (29 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 2:15pm
Assigned Workdays Per Year: 181 days (School Year Days)
Benefits: Part-time positions are eligible for supplemental benefits such as vision, life insurance, disability, etc. Eligible for PERF Retirement (Not eligible for medical and dental insurance.)
Paid Time Off Benefits: Eligible
Holiday Pay: Not Eligible
Qualifications:
  • Educational Requirements: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Must have ability to relate well and communicate effectively with a variety of individuals including students, staff, parents, and classroom volunteers.
  • Experience: None is required. Experience in a classroom setting preferred. ML experience is ideal.
  • Certification: None is required.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide supplemental instructional support to multilingual learners under the direction of the ML and classroom teachers in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing to improve language acquisition.
  • Supervises ML students and assists them with self-help and behavioral management skills.
  • Recognizes achievement, effort, and positive attributes of students.
  • Assists the ML and classroom teachers with lesson material preparation.
  • Communicates effectively with teachers and other staff.
  • Attends meetings, workshops, and training sessions as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
