Job description

Piper Companies is hiring a System Architect for an onsite contract position with a global technology leader located in Reston, VA. The System Architect will design, implement, and secure scalable system architectures within U.S. Government classified environments, leveraging technologies like Kubernetes, AWS, and Infrastructure as Code while ensuring strict compliance with NISPOM and ICD security standards. Responsibilities of the System Architect:
โ€ข Design and implement secure, scalable system architectures in compliance with NISPOM and ICD guidelines.
โ€ข Lead container orchestration efforts using Kubernetes, ensuring high availability and security of services.
โ€ข Automate operating system deployments and infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Terragrunt.
โ€ข Administer and secure cloud environments, primarily within Amazon Web Services (AWS), including integration of services and enforcement of security controls.
โ€ข Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure systems are patched, monitored, and compliant with DoD and agency-specific cybersecurity standards. Qualifications of the System Architect:
โ€ข Must hold an active TS/SCI clearance and Counterintelligence Polygraph.
โ€ข Minimum 5 years of experience as a System Architect or similar role in classified U.S. Government environments.
โ€ข Proficiency in containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes), including deployment, management, and security best practices.
โ€ข Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Terragrunt).
โ€ข Possession of a DoD 8570 or DoD 8140 compliant certification (e.g., CISSP, Security+, CISA, GSEC, CAP, SSCP). Compensation for the System Architect: โ€ข Salary: $187,000-$200,000/year โ€ข Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday, and Sick Leave if Required by Law
