  • This job is a member of the Maintenance Planning Team within the Technical Operations Division.
  • Responsible for providing direct management of the Aircraft Routing team regarding company policy/procedures. Coordinates with numerous leaders from Dispatch, Line & Base Maintenance, Maintenance Control, Crew, Customer Service and other Technical Operations teams to manage safe and efficient routings for the American Airlines mainline fleet. This job, along with the Line Planning Manager on duty, will have the responsibility of over-seeing the airline operation from the Line Maintenance Planning perspective.

What you'll do
As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and development to the Aircraft Routing team towards achievement of company and departmental goals and ensures they are accountable for their duties, responsibilities, and actions
  • Has responsibility and oversees the operation from the Line Planning/Aircraft Routing perspective. This position along with the Planning Manager on duty, carries the authority to act as the Management representative for decisions within the authority of the Line Maintenance Planning Department
  • Ensures Aircraft Routers are determining the most effective routings of aircraft, taking into account both internal and external customers, to achieve both operational and maintenance compliance
  • Provides daily status updates to IOC leadership as well as actively participates and chairs various conference calls to provide operational integrity throughout the operating day and night
  • Advises employees of all procedural changes and gives information relating to their job performance by use of direct one on one development and coaching
  • Develops and evaluates individual Aircraft Routers to meet operational performance improvement initiatives and supports individual and team growth
  • Represents Aircraft Routing on the IOC bridge in both daily airline management as well as in IROP environments
  • Takes ownership and promotes collaboration and teamwork

  • Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
    • High School diploma or GED equivalency
    • 5 years job related experience
  • Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in related fields
    • Strong understanding of the American Airlines commercial network as well as its maintenance program
    • Thorough understanding of the airline business, commercial and operational goals and how to translate these into sound operational execution
    • Flexibility in adapting to new ideas/approaches and ability to drive business process improvement for his/her team and others
    • Ability to work with cross-functional groups and quickly develop relationships
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple operational events and help led the team through irregular ops
    • Proven leader in building, training and coaching individuals to drive towards the team's success
  • Skills, Licenses & Certifications
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Ability to modify existing processes by correcting problems, resolving issues and updating existing work methods
    • Ability to work rotating shifts, including holidays and days off
