As of Jun 14, 2026, the average yearly pay for videographer country in the United States is $63,930.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $44,500.00 and $73,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some common challenges faced by videographers working in different locations across the country?

Videographers who travel or work across various regions often encounter challenges such as adapting to unfamiliar environments, managing equipment logistics, and navigating local regulations or permit requirements. Weather conditions, availability of local talent, and cultural differences can also impact shoot planning and execution. Successful videographers proactively research locations, establish clear communication with clients and local crews, and build flexibility into their schedules to handle unexpected changes. This role requires strong organizational skills and adaptability to ensure high-quality results regardless of location.

What jobs make $10,000 a month without a degree?

A videographer can earn $10,000 or more per month through freelance work, high-profile projects, or owning a media business, especially with specialized skills in editing, lighting, and equipment. Success often depends on experience, reputation, and the ability to secure lucrative contracts or clients. Building a strong portfolio and networking are key to reaching this income level without a formal degree.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Videographer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Videographer, you need expertise in camera operation, video editing, lighting, and a solid understanding of visual storytelling, often supported by a degree or coursework in film, media, or a related field. Familiarity with editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and proficiency with various camera and audio equipment are typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help a videographer collaborate effectively with clients and team members. These competencies ensure the production of high-quality, engaging video content that meets client objectives and project goals.

What jobs in the US pay $300,000 a year?

In the US, high-paying roles for videographers are rare, with senior or specialized professionals such as cinematographers or directors earning up to or exceeding $300,000 annually, especially in the film or advertising industries. Achieving this level typically requires extensive experience, advanced skills, and often working on large-scale projects or for major companies.

Freelance videographers with specialized skills, high-quality equipment, and a strong portfolio can also command higher rates regardless of location. Experience, niche expertise, and the ability to work on commercial projects often influence earning potential more than geographic location alone.

What does a Videographer do?

A Videographer is responsible for capturing moving images on video for various purposes, such as events, commercials, documentaries, or corporate projects. They operate cameras, set up lighting and audio equipment, and often edit the footage to create a polished final product. Videographers may work independently or as part of a production team, and their role can include planning shots, directing people on camera, and ensuring high-quality visual storytelling. The job requires technical skills, creativity, and attention to detail.

Are videographers in high demand?

Job description

Are you ready for a season of focused marketing photo and video capture? Are you a videographer and photographer who has a sincere love for content creation? Are you adventurous and love showing up to new places?ย  Are you located in the Kansas City area?

We are looking for a talented and high-energy member to join our Traveling Media Team in 2026!

Expect to be our "boots on the ground" in the capture of impactful visual content for apartment community websites and marketing campaigns. As one of our Seasonal Media Producers, you'll travel and shoot 20-30 hours per week, generally within a 200-mile radius of where you're located, to produce exceptional photographs and walk-though video tours of unique apartment communities and floor plans, all while providing remarkable interactions with on-site staff and residents.

You'll spend two weeks learning how to capture impactful marketing material for apartment communities the RentVision way, including one week with our Media Team staff in person (Lincoln, NE).ย  Once you're geared up and ready to go, you'll hit the road for an awesome seasonal experience. We are ready for this position to start as soon as possible, and the season will run for anywhere between five to seven months.

Once training is complete, you'll be traveling to our clients every week, shooting new apartment communities and pleasing clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture photo and video according to RentVision's spec: You'll be capturing the community and floorplan photos and videos to showcase communities to prospective residents in marketing. RentVision's process is informed by 16 years of providing apartment marketing media to clients, and our approach, gear, and deliverables are very narrowly defined.
  • Travel to client properties: You'll be serving clients in and around your metro, generally within 200 miles.ย  That means driving to and from these communities to capture photos and videos during the shoot timeframe. Promptness, consistency, and reliability are a necessity!
  • Openness to travel: While you'll stay in your metro area most of the time, RentVision serves clients across the country. Availability for optional trips may take you to different cities or states, including airline travel and overnight hotel stays. Interest in fulfilling this occasional travel is preferred.
  • Calendar management: RentVision will manage your shoots, outlining where to be, what to capture, and who you'll be interacting with. Staying on top of your planned shoots, where they are, and what needs capturing is mandatory to succeeding as a Media Producer.
  • Media management: You'll be capturing the media from which a whole host of edits, marketing material, and website content will be generated.ย  Taking diligent notes and being meticulous with the prescribed media management process is vital to concluding a shoot and working with our team.

Client Communication:

  • You'll be on-site interacting with apartment community staff on a weekly basis. Professionalism, great communication, and a pleasant demeanor all contribute to creating the remarkable experiences we strive to provide RentVision clients. You won't have to worry about scheduling your shoots, but on the day you will be interacting with the onsite staff there to receive you.

Team Collaboration:

  • This position may be remote, but not alone! Work alongside a Media Team with 30+ years of combined real estate photo and video experience. You'll stay in close contact with your direct manager and our travel coordinator who will ensure you know what shoots are coming, and that you have all you need. You'll also be plugged into feedback and training from our editing and media production team that will help guide your photography and videography as you continue growing and capturing client media.

Requirements

  • Have videography & photography experience: Have some experience shooting photography and videography content professionally (ex. weddings, commercials, corporate events, etc.) and have a strong working knowledge of professional mirrorless cameras (Canon preferred).
  • Are a collaborator: Be an integral part of our creative team, which requires a range of talents to deliver our final product with high quality and timeliness.
  • Can adapt to change: We need team members who adapt to change, are excited by new challenges, and are strong decision-makers while on the road. If there are ever two things that can change by the minute, it's travel and technology!
  • Are consistent and persistent: Produce and return large quantities of impactful visual content in a timely manner that are continually adherent to our brand standards.
  • Want to be an adventurer: This job will require regular travel, so be prepared to find yourself exploring cities around you! Typically, our Media Producers will travel to and from clients within a 200 mile radius Tuesdays through Thursdays. If elected travel opportunities are further than 200 miles, we will pay for an overnight stay, as well as offer a daily Meal Per Diem.
  • Can handle physical demands: In this role you will be required to have a valid driver's license and vehicle transportation to travel to client shoots. You'll also need to be able to move up to 60 lbs. of equipment, be working and moving for several hours at a time, and occasionally work outdoors in the heat. On the roughest days, you'll be doing all of these things, all at the same time. Physical stamina is a must.
  • Have a customer service mindset: You might be the only employee from RentVision that ever meets this client face-to-face, so your customer service skills must be top notch. We strive to provide a remarkable experience to our clients, so being on time, communicating well, and having a pleasant demeanor (even during tough shoots) is essential.
  • Have a working knowledge of modern day communication tools: You'll constantly be on the road, but we will want to stay in touch! We use platforms like Zoom, Dropbox, Slack, and G-Suite to make sure we are all in sync. Experience in all of these platforms isn't a requirement, but you need to be somewhat tech savvy and able to learn quickly. If you have a hard time connecting to a new wifi network, this probably won't be a great fit.

Benefits

  • Pay includes a base hourly rate + mileage reimbursement + quality production bonus.
  • Top of the line equipment and training provided.
