Senior Software Engineer - Audio & Video Streaming

Location: 22 Link Rockleigh, NJ, 22 Link Drive, Rockleigh, New Jersey, United States of America

Summary

Crestron's Streaming team is looking for a talented and self‑motivated engineer with strong embedded software development experience who can apply their expertise in our next generation of audio‑video streaming solutions.

As a member of the firmware development team, your daily activities will include the full lifecycle of design, development, modification, test, debug, and support of new and existing embedded Linux and Android based products. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to review requirements, develop new features, optimize performance, and ensure seamless integration with hardware components.

Responsibilities
  • Development and maintenance of current software including feature enhancements, performance improvements, troubleshooting, testing, and bug fixing for streaming solutions across multiple platforms.
  • Document firmware architecture and design specifications.
  • Integrate and maintain 3rd‑party applications on multiple platforms.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Develop and execute validation and testing procedures for firmware.
  • Ensure firmware meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5‑7 years of experience in firmware development for embedded Linux/Android systems.
  • Experience in C, C++/Java or other object‑oriented programming languages.
  • Experience with embedded Linux/Android.
  • Experience with networking protocols, TCP, UDP, HTTP, etc.
  • Experience developing and debugging Android Apps and Services.
  • Experience with video or graphics software systems (VAAPI, gstreamer, ffmpeg, OpenMAX, OpenGL, etc.).
  • Experience with video and audio streaming protocols (RTP, RTSP, etc.), codecs (H.264/H265, VP9, etc.).
  • Experience with Android framework customization.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt and learn in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize competing projects and deliver with confidence.

Per applicable state requirements, the annual pay range for this position ($107,500 – $173,500) reflects the hiring range for candidates. An individual’s offer may vary from this range based on location, qualifications, experience, and market factors.
