What is a video prompt engineer?

A Video Prompt Engineer is a professional who designs and optimizes prompts to guide artificial intelligence (AI) systems in generating or editing video content. They work closely with AI models to fine-tune instructions, ensuring the resulting videos meet specific creative, technical, or business goals. Their responsibilities often include scripting effective prompts, testing AI outputs, and collaborating with developers and creatives to enhance video quality and relevance. As AI video tools become more advanced, the role of a Video Prompt Engineer is becoming increasingly important in industries like advertising, entertainment, and digital content creation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a video prompt engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Video Prompt Engineer, you need expertise in video production, scripting, and an understanding of AI prompt engineering, often supported by experience with media editing tools and a background in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with platforms like Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and generative AI systems such as OpenAI, Runway, or Synthesia is typically required. Strong creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help in crafting prompts that yield high-quality, contextually relevant video outputs. These abilities are crucial for bridging the gap between technical AI capabilities and compelling visual storytelling, ensuring that generated video content meets project objectives.

What are some typical challenges video prompt engineers face when collaborating with creative teams?

Video Prompt Engineers often work closely with creative teams to develop prompts that yield visually engaging and contextually accurate video outputs from generative AI models. One common challenge is translating creative concepts into precise, technical prompts that the AI can interpret effectively. Balancing the creative vision with the technical constraints of the model requires strong communication and iterative problem-solving. Additionally, staying updated on the latest advancements in generative video technology is essential to ensure the prompts leverage new capabilities while maintaining high-quality results.

Job description

Principal Platform Product Marketing Manager

Location: Boston preferred (hybrid). Open to remote for exceptional candidates.

Why this role exists

ZoomInfo is building the industry's leading AI-powered GTM platform. As our platform grows, product marketing has become a strategic function not just for launching products, but for defining how customers understand our platform and how we bring new capabilities to market.

We're hiring a Principal Platform Product Marketing Manager to own both. This person will own product marketing for our most strategic platform initiatives. They'll also help redesign how Product Managers and Product Marketers create product marketing, using AI to make great work easier to produce and easier to scale.

This role sits within Product and partners closely with Product Leadership, Marketing, Sales, and Enablement. You'll shape how we position the platform, communicate major launches, and evolve how product marketing gets done.

Who you are

You're naturally curious about AI, software products, and why customers adopt one product over another.

You have strong opinions because you've used the products, talked to customers, and seen what actually works. You're comfortable challenging conventional thinking when you believe there's a better approach.

You're comfortable operating in ambiguity and building from scratch. If a better positioning framework, launch process, or workflow doesn't exist, your instinct is to create it. You can't help improving a broken process once you've seen it.

You have exceptional product marketing judgment. You know the difference between messaging that's technically accurate and messaging that changes how customers think about a product. You're the person people turn to when a product is difficult to explain because you have a knack for finding the story that makes it click.

You think in systems. Whether it's a framework, workflow, prompt, or process, you're always looking for ways to make great product marketing easier to create and easier to scale. AI is already part of how you work-not because it's trendy, but because it helps you produce better work, faster.

Your ImpactPlatform Narrative & Product Marketing

Own the platform narrative for ZoomInfo's GTM Intelligence Platform and lead product marketing for our highest-priority platform initiatives. Develop positioning, messaging, launch strategy, and the core assets that support every launch.

Product Marketing Systems

Build the systems that make great product marketing repeatable and scalable. Design AI-powered workflows, structured product intake, reusable templates, and scalable frameworks that help PMs consistently produce high-quality messaging, release communications, and launch assets. Partner with Product Operations and Engineering to evolve these systems as our products and organization grow.

Executive Storytelling

Partner with Product Leadership on messaging for major launches, executive presentations, customer events, analyst engagements, and other strategic initiatives. Turn complex platform capabilities into stories that resonate with customers, executives, and the broader market. Serve as one of the public voices of ZoomInfo's platform by creating engaging launch videos, feature walkthroughs, and product explainers that help customers quickly understand new capabilities.

Cross-Functional Partnership

Work closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, Enablement, Customer Success, and Analytics throughout the product lifecycle. Provide the positioning, messaging, and launch guidance that informs go-to-market planning while enabling partner teams to execute successfully.

What success looks like

Within your first year, you will:

  • ZoomInfo has a clear, differentiated platform narrative used consistently across Product and GTM.
  • Product marketing for our highest-priority platform initiatives is trusted by Product Leadership and adopted across GTM.
  • Product Managers can produce significantly better product marketing using the systems and workflows you've built.
  • Product leaders rely on you for messaging, executive communications, and strategic narratives.
  • The overall quality and consistency of product marketing is noticeably higher than when you joined, including new feature launches consistently include clear, high-quality video explainers that accelerate customer understanding and adoption.
What you bring
  • 7-10+ years of product marketing experience in B2B SaaS, with experience marketing platform, infrastructure, AI, or other technically complex software products.
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Marketing, Business, or related field (preferred, not required).
  • Proven success developing positioning, messaging, launches, and go-to-market strategy for complex software products.
  • Strong understanding of AI, modern GTM technology, and SaaS, with demonstrated experience using AI (e.g., Claude Code) to improve how product marketing gets done.
  • Experience building repeatable frameworks, operating models, or AI-assisted workflows that improve the speed, quality, and scalability of product marketing.
  • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts into compelling customer narratives.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and GTM organizations.
  • A builder's mindset, i.e., comfortable operating in ambiguity, creating new approaches, and improving how teams work.
  • Curiosity, sound judgment, and a bias toward experimentation, with a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
Why ZoomInfo

We're building more than new products-we're building the future of how go-to-market teams operate.

You'll help define the platform narrative for one of the industry's most ambitious AI companies while reinventing how product marketing itself is practiced. If you're excited by the opportunity to shape both what we say and how we work, you'll have an outsized impact here.
