SiriusXM Media is home to award winning podcasts, where it produces original content for and with talent and shows such as Conan O'Brien, Mel Robbins, 99% Invisible, Atlas Obscura, Vibe Check, The Sporkful, and many more. We also provide ad sales and distribution services to 300+ shows such as Call Her Daddy, Smartless, Crime Junkie, Oprah's SuperSoul Conversations and many more.
How you'll make an impact
As a SiriusXM Podcast Producer, your role would involve leading ongoing production across one or more shows in our curiosity and inspiration slate. These shows come from the long tradition of podcasts that center around compelling conversations, strong storytelling, culture, lifestyle, entertainment and education.
In your role, you would model best production practices and help in developing and implementing strategies to drive the growth, quality, and success across this slate and of the organization's podcasting efforts overall.
What you'll do:
As a SiriusXM Podcast Producer, you will own day-to-day production execution across one or more shows under the direction of an Executive Producer. These shows come from the long tradition of podcasts that center around compelling conversations, strong storytelling, culture, lifestyle, entertainment, and education. In this role, you will model strong production practices, contribute to production improvements, and execute defined show plans that support the growth, quality, and success of the slate and SiriusXM's podcasting efforts overall.
  • Content development and acquisition: contribute to the development and acquisition of podcast content in partnership with the Executive Producer. This includes identifying potential podcast concepts and collaborating with content creators, hosts, and the wider production team to help ensure high-quality, engaging, and diverse podcast offerings.
  • Podcast production and distribution: oversee the production and distribution processes for one or more podcasts. This includes offering structural, technical, and audio expertise to continue improving your shows; managing the creative process to anticipate problems before they occur; helping hosts and the rest of the production team do their best work; delivering projects on budget; and ensuring the timely release and distribution of episodes across various platforms and channels. You may assist at any point in the content chain to support talent and colleagues when needed.
  • Talent management: support podcast hosts and guest talent. This includes identifying and pitching talent to your Executive Producer, providing support and guidance to hosts, and fostering a positive and collaborative working relationship to enhance podcast quality and success.
  • Monetization and revenue generation: support and coordinate against established monetization plans. This includes communicating effectively with the Ad Ops and Revenue Partnerships teams to approve and deliver excellent ad reads, and helping explore sponsorships, branded content opportunities, and other revenue streams as directed by the Executive Producer or business partners.
  • Audience growth and engagement: collaborate in developing and implementing tactics to grow and engage the podcast audience. This includes working with marketing to promote podcasts through social media, email marketing, collaborations, and other channels to expand the listener base and enhance engagement.
  • Analytics and performance measurement: work with your Executive Producer to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including downloads, listens, engagement, and audience demographics, to evaluate performance, identify trends, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Industry partnerships and collaborations: maintain strong awareness of the podcast landscape, including podcasting networks, production companies, and industry stakeholders. Help identify opportunities for cross-promotion, talent exchanges, and other collaborations that can enhance SiriusXM's podcasting reach and influence.
  • Podcast network development: work with your Executive Producer on incoming pitches, development, and launches of new shows. This includes helping identify podcasts that align with the organization's brand and target audience, providing support and resources to network podcasts, and fostering a collaborative environment among podcast hosts and teams.
  • Research and prep interviews, book guests and recording sessions, cut tape, write scripts, add music, incorporate edits, and lay up sessions.
  • Provide smart, targeted editorial feedback and a skilled, creative ear.
  • Meet ongoing deadlines and manage fast turnaround needs.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment to create a supportive and efficient production process.
  • Work with ad sales and branded content teams to make sure ads are approved, recorded accurately, and shared with sponsors in a timely manner.
  • Develop audience engagement tactics to foster community and bring new listeners to the network.
  • Ongoing communication and advocacy on behalf of assigned shows across the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll need:
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • Journalism experience preferred.
  • Experience in content development and/or production for podcast, terrestrial or satellite radio, or a similar audio medium.
  • Hands-on audio recording and editing skills; ProTools preferred.
  • Experience working across a variety of genres and styles, such as chat casts, comedy, in-depth interviews, news, or documentary, is a plus.
  • Curiosity and passion for podcasts, with ideas for moving the medium forward and growing audiences.
  • A great ear for what makes an engaging, smart, and entertaining conversation.
  • A passion for determining what podcast audiences want to hear from hosts.
  • Patience and ability to walk talent and guests through basic tech setups for remote recording.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while working independently within defined production workflows and guidance.
  • Social media skills.
  • Video editing skills are a plus.
