Job description

Job Title: CCTV / Video Surveillance System (VSS) Administrator

Location: Philadelphia, PA 19153
Duration: 6 Months
Employment Type: Contract


Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced CCTV/Video Surveillance System (VSS) Administrator to support and maintain enterprise-level video surveillance systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for system administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and availability.


Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and support enterprise video surveillance platforms, including Video Management Systems (VMS) and legacy CCTV systems
  • Monitor system health, camera availability, recording services, and storage capacity
  • Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 support for incidents such as camera outages, recording failures, and performance issues
  • Configure and manage cameras, recording profiles, retention policies, and user access
  • Support integrations with access control systems, alarm systems, and other security technologies
  • Perform routine maintenance, software upgrades, firmware updates, and configuration changes
  • Troubleshoot issues related to IP cameras, encoders, NVRs, servers, and storage systems
  • Collaborate with security, operations, network, and IT teams to resolve technical issues
  • Maintain documentation including camera inventories, configurations, and system architecture
  • Support security investigations, audits, and video evidence requests

Required Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience supporting enterprise CCTV or Video Surveillance Systems
  • Hands-on experience with Video Management Systems (VMS) (e.g., Milestone preferred; Avigilon or Pelco is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of IP camera technologies, video encoding, and storage systems
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, bandwidth, switches, connectivity)
  • Experience troubleshooting CCTV hardware, software, and infrastructure environments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in large-scale environments such as airports, transportation, government, healthcare, or enterprise organizations
  • Familiarity with integrated security systems including access control and alarm systems
