What does a typical day look like for someone working in Video Labelling?

A typical day in Video Labelling involves reviewing video footage, identifying and annotating specific objects or events according to project guidelines, and entering this data into specialized software tools. Team members often collaborate with data scientists, engineers, or quality assurance leads to ensure accuracy and consistency in the annotations. Depending on the project and employer, you may work independently or as part of a larger team, sometimes with set quotas or deadlines. This work is crucial for developing and refining AI and machine learning models, making attention to detail and adherence to standards especially important. Over time, experienced video labelling professionals may progress to quality assurance roles or team leads overseeing larger annotation projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Video Labelling position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Video Labelling professional, you should have excellent attention to detail, basic computer proficiency, and familiarity with visual content analysis. Knowledge of annotation platforms, video editing software, or AI training tools is often required, and experience with data labelling systems can be beneficial. Strong communication, reliability, and the ability to follow detailed guidelines are important soft skills for this role. These abilities ensure high-quality, consistent data annotation that directly supports machine learning and computer vision projects.

What jobs make $10,000 a month without a degree?

Video labeling jobs typically do not pay $10,000 a month without significant experience or high-volume work, as they are often entry-level and pay hourly or per task. High earnings in related fields like freelance video editing, content creation, or digital marketing may reach that level with specialized skills, a strong portfolio, and consistent work, but these are not solely based on job titles. Most roles requiring no degree tend to have lower average salaries, making $10,000 monthly uncommon without advanced skills or entrepreneurship.

What is a video labelling job?

A video labelling job involves reviewing and annotating video content to help train machine learning algorithms, such as for autonomous vehicles or content moderation. Workers typically use specialized tools to add labels, tags, or metadata to specific frames or segments, often working remotely with flexible schedules.

What jobs in the US pay 300,000 a year?

In the field of video labelling, high-paying roles typically do not reach $300,000 annually; such salaries are more common in executive, specialized technical, or management positions. Most video labelling jobs are entry-level or mid-tier roles with salaries significantly below that threshold. Advanced roles in related fields like AI development or data science may approach or exceed this level with experience and expertise.

What is a Video Labelling job?

A Video Labelling job involves annotating or tagging objects, actions, or events in video footage to train machine learning models. This process helps AI systems recognize and interpret visual data accurately. Tasks may include drawing bounding boxes, classifying scenes, or adding timestamps for specific events. Video labelling is commonly used in industries like autonomous driving, security surveillance, and content moderation.

Are video editors in high demand?

Video editors are in steady demand across industries such as media, advertising, and entertainment, especially with the growth of online content and digital marketing. Skills in editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro and the ability to adapt to new tools can enhance job prospects in this field.

Job description

About the Role

Location: Canton, MA or Charleston, SC (Onsite / Client Sites),
Compensation: Competitive pay + overtime eligible + full benefits

(This role may be eligible for prevailing wage rates when working on public works projects, as required by law)

Deliver clean, reliable systems - independently and professionally.

The Senior Pro A/V Systems Technician is a hands-on installation role responsible for executing professional permanent A/V system builds with precision and care. You will install, test, and troubleshoot systems independently or as part of a team, following approved drawings, scope, and direction from the Project Manager or Install / Tech Lead.

This role is for a technician who takes pride in craftsmanship, understands system signal flow, and can be trusted to execute work correctly without constant supervision.

  • You are not a people lead.
  • You are not a project manager.
  • You are a skilled, independent contributor.

What Youll Own

  • Install and test permanent Pro-AV installations from rough-in through trim, test, and commissioning
  • Video projection and commercial display systems
  • Sound reinforcement and conferencing systems
  • Control systems, DSP, and networked AV
  • Lighting and specialty systems where applicable
  • Interpret drawings, wiring schematics, and floor plans
  • Mount, terminate, label, and dress equipment and cabling to company standards
  • Configure and test basic DSP, control, and matrix systems
  • Troubleshoot technical issues independently or escalate appropriately
  • Coordinate day-to-day tasks with Project Managers, Tech Leads, and other technicians
  • Coordinate installs alongside GCs, ECs, and other trades in active construction or renovation environments
  • Document work performed and participate in system-level testing
  • Support client and end-user training when requested
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site

Technology Ecosystem Experience

Experience with some or all of the following is expected; depth across multiple areas matters more than familiarity with every platform.

Audio & DSP

  • Networked and analog audio systems
  • DSP platforms such as Q-SYS, Biamp, Symetrix, Harman
  • Wireless and wired microphone systems (Shure, Sennheiser)
  • Loudspeakers, amplifiers, and signal distribution

Video & Display Systems

  • Commercial displays and projectors
  • Video switching, routing, and distribution
  • Signal transport technologies (HDMI, HDBaseT, SDI)

Control & Integration

  • Control systems such as Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS
  • Touchpanels, control processors, and device integration
  • Understanding of system control flow and troubleshooting

AV Networking

  • Dante and networked AV fundamentals
  • Basic IP networking concepts (switching, VLAN awareness, addressing)
  • Integration of AV systems on shared or dedicated networks

Infrastructure & Build Standards

  • Equipment racks, power sequencing, and grounding
  • Cable termination, labeling, dressing, and documentation
  • End-to-end testing and validation of complete signal paths

This role requires hands-on experience installing and integrating complete AV systems; platform-only or ticket-based support experience is not sufficient.

Requirements

  • 46+ years of experience in Pro A/V installation or service
  • Strong understanding of signal flow and system wiring
  • Familiarity with low-voltage standards (Cat6, audio, video, control)
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, lifts, ladders, and test equipment
  • Valid drivers license and ability to lift 50 lbs and work at height
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid MA DOT Medical Certificate (DOT Physical)
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety certification required (or willingness to complete shortly after hire)
