Job description

Description: At Carroll University, we are committed to identifying and employing strategies to support our goal to be and remain a socially just organization. This position will assist the head coach in recruiting and coaching duties. The successful coach will be directly involved in recruiting student-players, coaching in-person and online, and building the program identity. This position reports to the Head eSports Coach. The preferred candidate will have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Travel for team tournaments and recruiting may be required.

Responsibilities:
Assistant the Head Coach to coach and instruct activities during practice and competition
Understand and comply with all rules and regulations set forth by Carroll University and eSports competitions
Act as a professional and positive representative of the Carroll University Educational Experience.
Provide guidance and input on games selected for varsity competition
To lead dedicated team practice and games in person.
Developing and employing structured practices.
Provide care and oversight of equipment and facility
Assist with team travel when necessary; including but not limited to driving athletes to competition.
Recruit and retain students for the Esports program
Support and work camps, clinics and promotional events
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
Associates degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
One-year competitive eSports experience involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements preferred
Significant knowledge of one or more of the following games preferred: League of Legends, Overwatch, Valorant, Rocket League, Call of Duty, and/or Smash Bros.
Strong relationship-building skills
Effective written and oral communication skills, including public speaking
Ability to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, administrators and professional colleagues
Valid driver's license and ability to travel required
Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.

Competitive Gaming/Computer Skills:
Understanding of computer hardware and software needs related to competitive Esports while collaborating with the Office of Information Technology (OIT).
Ability to operate gaming PC and console equipment to meet the needs of an Esports program competing in both formats.

Human Relations Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Positive attitude towards the University and its intercollegiate programs is essential
Ability to conduct self in a productive, professional manner at all times
Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University Mission.

Compliance:
Employees may be required to report violations of law under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
