Position Summary

The Education and Social Media Marketing Coordinator plays a vital role in expanding Pacific Science Center's reach across our region by driving education program marketing and executing social media content. This position blends community-facing outreach with creative content production, requiring someone who is equally comfortable at a school tabling event and behind a content calendar. The ideal candidate brings a passion for education equity and STEM access, a working knowledge of social media tools, and the energy to meet communities where they are.

This role sits within the Marketing team and works closely with the Advancement Marketing Manager and Creative Manager. The coordinator will help translate program needs into effective marketing and outreach efforts, while ensuring education program managers are engaged in planning and campaign updates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Education Program Marketing

  • Partner with the Advancement Marketing Manager to develop and execute marketing plans for PacSci education programs including Science on Wheels, Camps, Digital Discovery Workshops, and Field Trips.
  • Serve as the primary marketing coordinator for outreach to schools, PTAs, community organizations, and families across the greater Seattle region.
  • Represent PacSci during onsite educational events as well as offsite tabling events, conferences, community fairs, camp and school visits, and partner events to promote education programs and expand awareness.
  • Support onsite marketing activations that connect visitors with education program offerings.
  • Develop and maintain clear, compelling program descriptions and outreach materials in collaboration with the Creative Studio.
  • Track and report on education marketing campaign performance, including event attendance, lead generation, and enrollment impact.
  • Build and maintain relationships with school contacts, community partners, and program participants to support ongoing outreach efforts.
  • Coordinate logistics for education marketing materials, including print collateral, digital assets, and promotional items for events.

Social Media Content Execution

  • Execute social media content across PacSci platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and others) in alignment with content strategy set by the Advancement Marketing Manager and Creative Manager.
  • Maintain and contribute to a social content calendar, ensuring content is planned and aligned with overall social strategy and campaign cadence.
  • Produce short-form video and social content using tools such as Adobe Suite, CapCut, Instagram Edits, and similar platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Studio on asset creation, ensuring content is on-brand and optimized for each platform.
  • Contribute ideas and observations that inform content strategy, including trend awareness and community feedback.
  • Engage with followers and monitor social channels to support community interaction and brand voice consistency.
  • Maintain organized content libraries and assist with tracking social media performance metrics.

General Responsibilities

  • Embrace Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) and anti-racism principles in all marketing efforts, ensuring outreach reflects and serves the full diversity of our region.
  • Collaborate across Advancement team functions including Development and Membership to support integrated campaigns as needed.
  • Participate in team planning meetings and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
  • Support other marketing projects as assigned.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Education program enrollment and inquiry growth are attributed to marketing efforts.
  • Number of offsite tabling events and community activations executed per quarter.
  • Social media content published on schedule and in alignment with the content calendar.
  • Engagement metrics across social platforms (reach, impressions, interactions, follower growth).
  • Quality and consistency of social content as measured by creative team and manager review.
  • Partner and community relationships developed and maintained.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, education outreach, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to create social media content, including short-form video, across multiple platforms.
  • Proficiency with social media tools and content creation software (Adobe Suite, CapCut, Instagram Edits, or similar).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in community settings, including travel to offsite locations throughout the Seattle region.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Genuine passion for education, STEM access, and community engagement.

Preferred

  • Background in education, education nonprofit work, or a related field.
  • Experience with or knowledge of youth-serving programs, K-12 outreach, or community-based education.
  • Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are a plus given our audience and program reach.
  • Experience with content calendars, social scheduling tools (Sprout Social, Later, or similar), or basic analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with the Pacific Science Center community or Pacific Northwest education landscape.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This role requires both office-based and field-based work. The coordinator will regularly attend offsite events across the Seattle metro region and should have reliable transportation or access to public transit. Some evening or weekend availability may be required for tabling events or program activations. The role involves moderate physical activity including standing for extended periods, carrying event materials, and setting up displays at community events.
