Job description

Amazon Video Advertising operates in a dynamic, multi-sided digital advertising market with significant growth potential. Across streaming TV, mobile, and web, Amazon's Video Advertising program is uniquely positioned through our differentiated customer insights, exclusive content, and premium inventory. The Video Network team seeks a Senior Software Development Manager to lead to lead an engineering team building the industry's most compelling video ad network-delivering exceptional advertiser outcomes through innovative supply solutions.
Are you a leader who thrives on building high-performing engineering teams and delivering software systems that solve real customer problems

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a team of engineers through the full software development lifecycle-from design and implementation to deployment and maintenance. In this role, you will own the strategic direction for your team's software systems, define product roadmaps, and drive execution on initiatives that have meaningful business impact. You will balance tactical delivery with long-term architectural thinking, partnering across organizations to align priorities and ship results.

If you are energized by coaching engineers, navigating ambiguity, and building technology that scales, this is your opportunity to make a lasting mark at Amazon Publisher Monetization Video Ads team.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and grow a software development team, owning the team's charter, vision, roadmaps, and strategic direction while delivering quality software systems across the full lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Define and prioritize product roadmaps by working backwards from customer problems, balancing tactical delivery needs against longer-term strategic goals, and partnering with stakeholders to align on priorities across teams.
- Drive system design decisions and architectural direction for your team's products, evaluating tradeoffs in scalability, maintainability, performance, and security while contributing to cross-team technical discussions.
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineers through collaborative development planning, actionable feedback, and strategic project assignments, building an inclusive team culture that supports career growth at every level.
- Establish operational excellence practices, create metrics and audit mechanisms to measure team performance, and proactively identify and mitigate risks before they become roadblocks to delivery.
A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing operational metrics and system health dashboards, then join a design review where you challenge assumptions and help your engineers refine their approach. Mid-morning brings a roadmap planning session with partner teams, where you negotiate priorities and align on shared deliverables. In the afternoon, you hold one-on-one meetings with your direct reports, discussing career development and unblocking technical challenges

You close out the day by reviewing a narrative document for an upcoming initiative, ensuring it clearly articulates the customer problem and proposed solution.
About the team.

Our team brings together product strategists, engineers, and business leaders who share a commitment to understanding publisher needs and delivering solutions that drive mutual success. As part of this team, you'll work with colleagues across regions and functions who are passionate about solving complex supply-side challenges and creating products that publishers genuinely value. Together, we're shaping how video advertising evolves across streaming TV, mobile, and web environments.
