Job description

Position Status: Part-Time
Classification: Non-exempt
SUMMARY
The Camp Victory Grounds and Facilities Staff is responsible for ensuring the campgrounds and facilities are safe, attractive, and orderly, to provide a pleasant environment. This role will assist the grounds crew and with the events set-up and tear-down as well as routine cleaning and maintenance duties. This role will report to the Camp Victory Security and Grounds Supervisor.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Grounds maintenance: mowing, weed eating and keeping the grounds ready and presentable at all times.
  • Performs minor maintenance and repair on as required.
  • Patrols property and remove any trash and/or debris from walkways, flower beds, parking lots, fields, and any other Camp Victory property that may be assigned by the Camp Director or Camp Victory Security Supervisor.
  • Operates large power equipment; lawn mowers, edgers, chainsaws, blowers, hand tools, and large vehicles associated with ground maintenance activities.
  • Operates pick-up truck and golf carts for hauling purposes and for trash and debris removal.
  • Performs minor maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Shovels and removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks, and entryways as required. May operate various snow removal equipment.
  • Prepared for last-minute requests, last-minute needs, pick-ups, drop-offs and/or meeting vendors on site as needed.
  • Oversight and maintain camp summer activities including go-karts, zipline, bumper cars. This includes ensuring they are fully functioning and meet all safety requirements at all times.
  • Assist with facilities and cleaning at Camp Victory including cleaning bathrooms, lodge, chapel, floors, bunks and other needed facilities.
  • Assist with event set-up tasks including set up tables, chairs and rearrange facilities to meet event needs.
  • Recovery and cleaning of facilities after events to include re-stocking, cleaning, moving of equipment, games, resetting of tables and chairs.
  • Abide by all camp safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Keep grounds and facility clean and organized daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in building and grounds operations.
  • Ability to read chemical labels.
  • Diligence and attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina and high energy levels.
  • Proficient with both oral and written communications.
  • Positive customer-oriented attitude and professional image.
  • Knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures of grounds construction and care.
  • Skill in operating grounds maintenance and grounds construction equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
  • Physical exertion such as standing, bending, stooping, crouching, lifting, and reaching; and walking a short to long distance on moderately to extreme steep terrain without difficulty.
  • Ability to lift > 60 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity with the use of hands and fingers to feel objects, tools, and controls.
  • Sighted with color, peripheral, near, and far vision.
  • Hearing and speaking.
  • Majority of work hours will be outdoors in extreme heat and occasionally indoors in a climate-controlled building.
  • Willingness to work in a camp setting and work irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities; and with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and animals such as bugs, snakes, etc.
