WHAT DOES A VP, CREATIVE DIRECTOR DO?
The VP, Creative Director (VP, CD) leads the strategic and creative vision for multiple brands and therapeutic areas. This role demands a combination of exceptional creative leadership and strategic partnership with clients, account teams, and other senior leaders. The VP, Creative Director guides and mentors a multidisciplinary creative team, ensuring that the work delivered is innovative, brand-aligned, and meets strategic objectives.
  • Oversees creative strategy and execution across various client brands and indications, ensuring that creative work is strategically aligned and meets client goals.
  • Collaborates with account and planning teams to define and refine creative briefs, ensuring clarity and alignment on project scope and direction.
  • Serves as the lead creative contact for clients, cultivating strong relationships by delivering strategic, creative solutions that address client challenges.
  • Fosters strong partnerships with internal teams (account, planning, production, and subject matter experts) and external partners (clients, vendors, and partner agencies).
  • Ensures that all creative work adheres to medical, regulatory, and legal (MRL) guidelines while pushing for innovation and boundary-pushing ideas.
  • Presents and defends creative concepts to clients, positioning the work within a broader strategic and storytelling framework.
  • Champions accessibility and ensures that all creative work follows best practices in inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Mentors and develops creative talent, recognizing individual strengths and creating an environment that fosters collaboration and innovation.
  • Leads new business pitches, setting clear directives and inspiring teams to deliver creative excellence.
  • Seeks opportunities for organic growth and identifies potential for new business within existing client relationships.

Qualifications
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Proven leader with extensive experience in creative direction, ideally with a background in both art and copy or a comprehensive understanding of both disciplines.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to integrate creative solutions with broader business objectives.
  • Collaborative individual who thrives in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in creative roles, with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership position.
  • Significant experience leading creative initiatives for healthcare and pharmaceutical brands, with a successful track record of product launches and cross-channel campaigns.
  • Strong storytelling abilities, capable of inspiring both internal teams and clients.
  • Expertise in accessibility and inclusivity best practices, ensuring that creative work reaches diverse audiences.
