Job description

Asset & Wealth Management, Fixed Income - Client Portfolio Management, Vice President

Fixed Income & Liquidity Solutions Overview

Fixed Income and Liquidity Solutions, within Public Investing, manages more than $2 trillion in assets for a variety of clients, including private wealth mandates and institutional clients such as insurance companies, pension funds, and endowments. The team has a long history of investing across public fixed income strategies including rates, currency, and credit on behalf of our clients. Investment ideas are created through collaboration between portfolio managers, research analysts, and traders.

Role Overview

Goldman Sachs Asset Management's Fixed Income team is a premier provider of investment solutions, managing a comprehensive suite of separately managed accounts (SMAs), mutual funds, and ETFs.  As a Vice President on the Client Portfolio Management (CPM) team, you will serve as a senior lead for client engagement, marketing strategy, and product development for fixed income across both retail and institutional channels. The role's primary focus will be to represent and support the firm's broad Fixed Income platform, including investment grade, high yield, and multi-sector strategies.  The CPM will also have coverage responsibilities on the Municipal franchise - navigating the $4 trillion municipal market with a strategic emphasis on tax-efficient income, capital preservation, and total return.  In this capacity, you will be responsible for articulating complex investment strategies, delivering high-level market insights, producing thought leadership content, and tailoring bespoke solutions to meet specific client objectives. Working closely with portfolio management, sales, and marketing teams, you will play a critical role in driving asset growth and platform expansion across the Fixed Income franchise

Responsibilities

  • Subject Matter Expertise & Leadership: Act as a primary resource across our breadth of fixed income offerings, demonstrating a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, market trends, tax legislation, and regulatory considerations.
  • Fund Distribution & Sales Enablement: Support and directly engage in the distribution of mutual funds and ETFs, including partnering with sales teams to drive flows, conducting product-specific presentations, and positioning fund strategies across retail and institutional channels.
  • Client Communication & Relationship Management: Act as a senior point of contact for our retail sales channel, institutional consultants, and clients. Proactively address inquiries related to fixed income portfolio positioning, credit quality, and the impact of shifting yield curves. Lead periodic portfolio reviews to communicate relevant market insights and tax-management opportunities. Support RFP responses and due diligence processes for institutional prospects.
  • Marketing & Content Strategy: Lead the development of compelling marketing materials, including monthly commentaries, pitchbooks, and thematic content across the fixed income platform.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent the firm at industry conferences, client events, and webinars, delivering market insights and positioning the platform as a leader in fixed income investing.
  • Sales Leadership & Client Acquisition: Partner with senior sales leaders to present fixed income strategies to prospective clients. Effectively articulate our investment philosophy, which emphasizes active management, credit research, and technology-driven execution to capture market inefficiencies.
  • Market Intelligence & Investment Strategy: Continuously monitor market technicals (supply/demand dynamics), economic indicators, and competitor strategies. Contribute to the development of investment insights and provide input on strategy across the fixed income platform.
  • Portfolio Review & Performance Analysis: Oversee the preparation of timely, accurate client-specific portfolio reviews. Analyze performance attribution and ensure clear communication of how active management, macro positioning, and credit selection have driven results.
  • Collaboration & Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with portfolio managers, credit analysts, and quantitative/technology teams on strategic projects, including the expansion of our ETF suite and fixed income product offerings.
  • Product Development & Market Research: Identify product development opportunities that align with evolving client needs across fixed income markets. Conduct competitive and peer group analyses to inform product positioning.

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a strong focus on fixed income client portfolio management or investment strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of the bond market, including macroeconomic drives of interest rates, relative value across global credit sectors, and the technical mechanics of duration and yield curve positioning.
  • Exceptional verbal, presentation, and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex investment strategies for diverse audiences.
  • Expert PowerPoint skills, with the ability to create visually compelling presentations that articulate the "Fixed Income Story."
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools; familiarity with fixed income and industry specific tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Morningstar, Investortools Perform) is a plus.
  • Highly self-motivated and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced, market-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly regarding portfolio construction and risk management.
  • Willingness to travel for client engagement and industry conferences.
