Job description

Vice President of Operations

California | Nevada | Utah | Executive Leadership | Telecommunications Infrastructure

Lead the growth of a nationally recognized telecommunications infrastructure contractor.

Our client is seeking an experienced Vice President of Operations – West Region to provide executive leadership across California, Nevada, and Utah. This is a high-impact opportunity for an operational executive who thrives on building high-performing teams, driving profitable growth, and delivering complex telecommunications infrastructure projects.

With full P&L ownership for a regional business generating $25M+ in annual revenue, you'll shape regional strategy, strengthen customer partnerships, and oversee every aspect of operations—from business development and estimating through project execution, financial performance, and workforce development.

The Opportunity

As the regional business leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading telecommunications construction operations across multiple Western states.
  • Owning regional P&L, budgeting, forecasting, EBITDA, cash flow, and operational performance.
  • Driving strategic growth through customer relationships, market expansion, and business development initiatives.
  • Providing executive oversight of estimating, project controls, WIP/POC forecasting, production, billing, and financial reporting.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Recruiting, mentoring, and developing high-performing operational leaders.
  • Building executive relationships with telecommunications carriers, utilities, municipalities, and strategic customers.
  • Championing a culture of safety, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience within telecommunications infrastructure, outside plant (OSP), underground utilities, or heavy civil construction.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-state operations with full P&L responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of fiber construction, telecommunications infrastructure, utility construction, or network deployment.
  • Expertise in POC/WIP accounting, forecasting, project controls, revenue recognition, permitting, restoration, and operational finance.
  • Proven ability to grow revenue, improve profitability, and lead large field organizations.
  • Exceptional leadership, commercial, financial, and relationship management skills.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

Our client is a well-established and highly respected telecommunications infrastructure contractor with a strong national presence and an impressive portfolio of carrier, utility, and public-sector customers. The business continues to invest in growth, innovation, and operational excellence, creating an outstanding platform for an executive leader looking to make a meaningful impact.

This position offers the opportunity to lead a growing multi-state operation with significant autonomy, influence strategic decision-making, and play a key role in the continued expansion of the business.
