VP Operations, Supply Chain division

General Summary

The Vice President, Operations is responsible for leading the Retail, Technology and Healthcare operations team to top‑tier supply chain performance, winning and leading with customers. This executive will work with peers to establish Ryder as one of the top performing supply chain organizations in the industry. This role is responsible for logistics strategy, distribution operations, transportation planning, and customer interaction. Most importantly, this executive must understand and have the ability to drive transformation through the function. We aim to find a way to do things better, faster, at the most cost‑effective price in order to delight our customers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to deliver the highest service level, lowest cost and value‑added services to our customers
  • Lead and be responsible for operational execution excellence
  • Provide leadership and direction to the business as it relates to overall warehousing and transportation strategy, organizational structure, organizational design, and long‑term vision for the Retail product
  • Maintain and report performance against key service metrics internally and externally
  • Provide direction and leadership to locations
  • Create efficiencies and leverage distribution and transportation costs, ensure high service levels across the vertical, and develop strong customer relationships
  • Ensure distribution operations are effectively managed by maximizing the utilization of all available resources
  • Deliver against financial targets and budgets
  • Plan, build, maintain and improve distribution tools (facilities, processes, equipment, and systems) to continually improve service excellence
  • Develop and execute inventory management strategies that reduce costs
  • Interface with customers to ensure effective visibility to the supply chain strategy and maintain strong working partnerships
  • Establish critical performance metrics in the vertical, proactively resolve problems, introduce best practices and foster positive change, as required
  • Confront complex operational issues, determine solutions, and motivate staff to implement changes on a timely basis
  • Directly responsible for the performance management, engagement, and career development of direct staff. Works with senior leaders to ensure that all employee activities are consistent with the policies and total rewards objectives
  • Depth of knowledge in considering trade‑offs including investments in automation, number of locations, inventory management and both speed and cost of delivery

Complexity and Scope

A high energy, creative approach to problems will require an executive who is intelligent, analytical, financial, a quick study, a team player with exceptionally strong leadership and team‑building skills. The executive will have had experience in a large company with a reputation for continuous improvement, growth and cost management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, operations management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience at large consumer, distribution, 3PL or retail company in supply chain leadership roles focusing on distribution and logistics.

Compensation Information :

Salary range: $210,000 - $230,000 (Salaried)
